I definitely love Canon, one of the best one hit wonders in history. Chopin has some really beautiful pieces though. Don't forget Debussy's Claire de Lune or Mozart's Fantasy in D minor. Those could definitely compete with Canon.

I have really grown to hate Canon in D. It's the most overplayed piece ever. It's an elementary recital piece that is designed for children, and follows a very simple chord progression. Yes, some simple and minimalist music can be awesome, but I put Canon in D and the same category of lullabies and children's music. The chord progression has been used in a million pop songs too.
