Who is your fav classical composer?

I'd have to go with Mozart. And then maybe Bach.

Thrice 12-31-2003 04:44 PM

I like Franz Shubert.

Edgil 01-03-2004 09:15 PM

Mozart definately but I also enjoy almost any concierto that are played today ;)

Interactive 01-12-2004 10:13 PM

Mozart too. Mainly because I've really only heard his music, in the classical world that is.

abakubub 01-30-2004 08:21 AM

I favour music that's too early to have a known composer - a lot of stuff that the Boston Camerata has covered on their Early Music albums. Beethoven is also up there.

banonbush 01-30-2004 12:03 PM

hhmmm...tough choice. I just purchased the London syphony playing Holst's THe Planets. One of my favorites, Holst, that is... I really really like the short chorales by Bach, those are always nice. Beethoven's fifth is one of the best...especially the fourth movement. I think classical is all too good to pick a true favorite out of.

abakubub 01-30-2004 12:44 PM

There was recently a performance of Holst's The Planets near me, with a laser show to go along with it.... I was SO mad that I missed it. They're great pieces.

banonbush 02-01-2004 11:43 AM

you said that right. mars...soo soo soo good. Venus is great as well.

Meghan 02-01-2004 12:38 PM

Mozart and Tchaikovsky. Brilliant.

2tonelol 02-06-2004 08:00 AM

Debusey(spelling?) is fantastic, you wont hear much more emotion in classical music.IMO.

Shan 02-06-2004 08:21 AM

Mozart (isn't he popular?), and Vivaldi

Oh, Mozart is happening. I also enjoy Vivaldi. Today I purchased three classical cds. They are:
1) Liberace- Concert Favourites
2)Beethoven-The best of
3)Bach- Formula Classics: Volume two.

I am really enjoying number one. It's great.

Edgil 02-07-2004 10:22 PM

Is that a technical/musical term?

siegfried88 02-09-2004 05:53 PM

Wagner.

banonbush 02-09-2004 06:44 PM

Ahh, Wagner, very excellent. Good Taste siegfried88.

siegfried88 02-09-2004 09:13 PM

Thank you. Die Trauermarsch still moves me whenever I hear it.

Rockafella Skank 02-24-2004 12:09 AM

I'm starting to really like a lot of Bach and Chopin lately. I feel like I'm moving into the depths of classical music more and more.

banonbush 02-24-2004 02:12 PM

Thats a good place to be Rockafella

Edgil 02-24-2004 04:58 PM

You can't go wrong with classical... It's soo..... tranquil and just like chillin lol

abakubub 02-24-2004 08:33 PM

Classical music? Tranquil? Don't get too wrapped in stereotypes... There's some pretty hardcore Classical stuff out there! (Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture uses actual cannons as part of its percussion section, after all).

Edgil 02-26-2004 07:23 AM

lol... It's not like hard compared to other genres of music though... like almost any rock, or hard rock or even indie rock sometimes heh

abakubub 02-26-2004 06:49 PM

Well of course not - without electricity, it's pretty difficult to be 'hard' in that sense.

Edgil 02-27-2004 07:32 AM

well then what were u getting at ?

abakubub 02-27-2004 01:12 PM

I was getting at the fact that the sort of 'hard' that requires electricity is not the only style that isn't "tranquil" :)

rachmaninoff is my ultimate hero, or lately he has been. One of the greatest things I've ever purchased was Rachmaninoff's third piano concerto which I got from some obscure music store in Washington D.C. My piano teacher just introduced me to some piano pieces, so I really am just beginning to understand what he means. I think it has something to do with Buddhism.

Rachmaninoff is awesome !!! Prelude in G is my fave. I also like Debussy, Satie, and good old fashione Beethoven

Favorite Composer

Esp. the minor key piano sonatas.

Jaz 04-01-2005 06:51 AM

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Puccini, oh the horror of it all ;)

Classical music is sometimes stereotyped as 'boring' and other such ignorant comments, yet in the UK the radio station Classic FM has the most amount of listeners gained each year than any other radio station. I was quite overjoyed when they introduced the Classic FM tv channel a few years ago (nerdy of me I realise) mainly because they play alot of contemporary Classical stuff aswell as New Age. I've always been a huge admirer of this genre, I believe it's the BASE and source for all other genres.

Have to say I do have a soft spot for Mozart. What a guy! Has anyone seen the film amadeus amadeus? He would write his music from the top of his head. No mistakes. No crossings out. Every note was exact and precise, almost as if some kind of force was feeding him the information. Mind boggling stuff.

hookers with machineguns 04-02-2005 07:38 PM

Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart in general. Also some Brahms but by no means all of it. Limited Beethoven. I love some Monti and Moffat.
