Classical music? Tranquil? Don't get too wrapped in stereotypes... There's some pretty hardcore Classical stuff out there! (Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture uses actual cannons as part of its percussion section, after all).
lol... It's not like hard compared to other genres of music though... like almost any rock, or hard rock or even indie rock sometimes heh
Well of course not - without electricity, it's pretty difficult to be 'hard' in that sense.
well then what were u getting at ?
I was getting at the fact that the sort of 'hard' that requires electricity is not the only style that isn't "tranquil" :)

rachmaninoff is my ultimate hero, or lately he has been. One of the greatest things I've ever purchased was Rachmaninoff's third piano concerto which I got from some obscure music store in Washington D.C. My piano teacher just introduced me to some piano pieces, so I really am just beginning to understand what he means. I think it has something to do with Buddhism.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Puccini, oh the horror of it all ;)
Classical music is sometimes stereotyped as 'boring' and other such ignorant comments, yet in the UK the radio station Classic FM has the most amount of listeners gained each year than any other radio station. I was quite overjoyed when they introduced the Classic FM tv channel a few years ago (nerdy of me I realise) mainly because they play alot of contemporary Classical stuff aswell as New Age. I've always been a huge admirer of this genre, I believe it's the BASE and source for all other genres. Have to say I do have a soft spot for Mozart. What a guy! Has anyone seen the film amadeus amadeus? He would write his music from the top of his head. No mistakes. No crossings out. Every note was exact and precise, almost as if some kind of force was feeding him the information. Mind boggling stuff. |
anyone mention Tchaikovsky? Did I spell that right? well yeah, the swan lake stuff pisses me off, but i was listening to 1812 overture the other day. sweatness.
