actually metal kind of falls under the umbrella term of Rock. but anyway, the fact of the matter is, most people dont understand the categorization of classical subgenres, so its all put under the general title of "classial." like how "The Who" is labeled under rock and so are "The Ramones." just different types of rock. and "The Gordan Goodwin Band" and Charlie Parker both played jazz. it was just different jazz. so you just begin to split hairs. |
György Ligeti is definitely my current favourite composer.

Tchaikovsky
Modern wise, John Williams and Howard Shore, lol |
I love Debussy's "Girl with the flaxen hair." Does anyone recommend anything similar?

I already commented on this topic, but I just wanted to add another thing... I absolutely LOVE Prokofiev's 5 piano concertos!! |
CHOPIN- Prelude in C Minor. So pretty and so sad and "lachrymose".

I think my favorite at this point in time is something a little different; Aaron Copland. Such bold, noble, unique, and natural sounding music.
My top of the most famous are Dvorak, Beethoven, and Tchaikovky. Beethoven is awesome, Dvorak is really interesting and imaginative, and Tchaikovsky has the absolutely most memorable tunes. I love Holst. Emmanuel Chabrier is a favorite. I'm also one of those Erik Satie guys. Debussy is nice. Johann Strauss Jr. Stravinsky. I've always liked Saint-Saens. I'm actually a big Haydn guy. Mozart's music is universally beautiful, too beautiful to be true in many cases, I love his music. It takes me to my special place, hehe. Lizt's hungarian rhapsody no. 2 is such an awesome piano piece. I know I'm forgetting some. J.S Bach is very juicy mind music, gives you something to think about. Vivaldi really excity concerti and Handel's water music is superb. There are certainly others. I won't I won't regret not representing them. |
