Kukl (Björk)

I can confess that I've never listened to any Björk, but I love her band from the 80s. I can't imagine her solo stuff sounds like this, it's like post punk, noisy and experimental stuff bordering on no wave. Only has these two albums but they're so great

I can't really say that I've listened to all that much of her music before, but those songs you posted are fun as hell. I've been meaning to check out Bjork ever since I read somewhere that she repped The Dreaming, but I just never got around to it.

OccultHawk 02-12-2017 09:56 PM

I knew Kukl in the early days because they were on the Crass label. That commanded respect (ironically)

I like Björk's solo stuff (Homogenic is the best, prove me wrong) but I've never heard any of this before. I listened to the first few tracks off Holidays in Europe and it's kinda right up my alley. I definitely plan on listening to this album in its entirety when I get the chance.

just gave it a whirl because hey why not, I'm not usually into stuff with the "avant-pop" label

did not expect to be as floored as I am beyond the vocals, stayed up until the morning playing it over and over

reminds me of Madchester bands and apparently she was partying with the members of 808 State but it's more clever than any of that

every song has something that I've really never heard before, so many cool effects and turns in the tracks

Debut is good but Homogenic and Selmasongs are her best albums IMO.

MicShazam 11-22-2018 07:06 AM

I like Post and Homogenic the most. The Debut in third place maybe. Not hugely into Björk though.

Also, in a thread about “Bjork’s band from the 80s” it’s funny that her more famous band from the 80s hasn’t been mentioned. The Sugarcubes had some good stuff.

Unitron 11-22-2018 12:01 PM

I think Debut is her best, I think it's the most consistent plus it has the extra nostalgia appeal for me.

I thought it was an extremely overrated movie personally. You should check out the soundtrack album Selmasongs though. Like I mentioned earlier it's one of my favorite Bjork albums.

big fan of bjork's persona but not too much into her music, saving a few exceptions. that band seems interesting though, finna listen (first post lmao)
