This Heat
Surprised there isn't a thread on these guys yet. This Heat was an experimental post punk band that released two albums, s/t and Deceit. The s/t is far less of a punk album and more of an experimental industrial album that goes in some strange directions. Deceit is a little more conventional, but it is incredibly unique and is one of my favourite post punk albums.
The group just announced a reissue of their two albums as well as the Health and Efficiency EP on vinyl, which I'm pretty excited for. What're your thoughts on the group?

Hmm, no previous thread.. but I'm sure I've seen them mentioned here about 237 times before. Obviously a highly influential band, important to many sounds. Sebadoh's early stuff reminds me of their s/t album

Deceit is beautiful. One of my favourite records, and must've been a mind**** when it came out especially.
The self-titled though goes beyond that - it's visionary stuff. There's a song on there that sounds like the prototype for the Autechre/Aphex type music of the early 90s - amazing given when it came out. The whole record is all over the place. I prefer Deceit marginally, but their self-titled is like nothing else - truly alien for its time. I liken them to early Cabaret Voltaire, but better. What a band. Wish they'd released more records, but the reissues are gonna rule. |

Really unique and beautiful music. Still getting goosebumps when listening to them, although it's been almost ten years now. Although the other band members sadly have done only a handful of other albums, Charles Hayward is pretty active to this day. |

Was checking out Danny Brown because he is featured on the upcoming BadBadNotGood album mentioned in the thread about BBNG.
Stumbled across this. Funny how everything is connected.

I both hate and love when I learn about a new band that is really good like these guys. It's great to get to experience them but I always wonder how I could be kept in the dark about a group like this. Enjoying working through the catalog, great stuff, thanks Frownland!
