Harry Partch - Delusion of the Fury (1963-1969)

We have been listening Delusion Of The Fury - A Ritual Of Dream And Delusion by Harry Partch throughout last week. I'm sure it was an interesting experience. This work was suggested by Conan:

Harry Partch's Delusion of the Fury was premiered in January 1969 at the Pasadena Art Museum in California. Written for six actors, four singers, and a large ensemble of instruments created by the composer, the piece is one of the best examples of Partch's concept of 'corporeality,' or 'total theater,' integrating music, dance, stagecraft, and ritual.

Absolutely love this album, listen to it periodically. I find it amazing how structured Partch can be regardless of the fact he's working almost entirely in homemade percussion instruments.

From everything I've heard from this guy, including this, his music just sounds like the inventions of some dorky assclown. He may have great concepts and ideas but nothing worthwhile ever comes across. I hate the way it sounds.

Yikes...

Well, wasn't expecting this comment. It completely took me by surprise. Lol

What specifically bothers you about the album?

I hope my comments on the other records buy me some leeway here. I'm sorry for not being able to articulate it as well as I can why I like something. His music just rubs me wrong. It's like watching a crappy circus.
