Yep! Great album

And finally, for the next week: Crispin Hellion Glover - The Big Problem Does Not Equal The Solution. The Solution = LET IT BE.

Crispin Hellion Glover is maybe my favorite person on earth....this album was recorded in 1989 is very odd indeed....part spoken word, part music and all puzzling....literally the album itself presents a riddle....and it is the listeners job to solve it.....original pressings actually came with his phone number printed on the back and he asked listeners to call him when they felt they had solved his riddle
Quote:

"All words and lyrics point to THE BIG PROBLEM. The solution lay within the title; LET IT BE. Crispin Hellion Glover wants to know what you think these nine things all have in common."
from the back of the album

i love this album for so many reasons....and this you all might actually enjoy it also

And a new discussion thread: http://www.musicbanter.com/avant-gar...on-thread.html

dankrsta 05-22-2011 07:15 AM

I've been very busy these past few days, so there's a little delay with the voting. But, I have another idea. There will be no voting, the next week can serve as a chance to catch up on these past few albums. I will open, though, Crispin Glover thread tomorrow for those of you who want to discuss that.

dankrsta 06-02-2011 04:45 AM

Don't know about you, but I sadly didn't have the time to catch up with past few albums. However, no reason for the delay again. I updated the poll and you can start voting for the next week's album.

I feel bad because I'm about four behind now and I'm not going to be able to get caught up probably for another 3 weeks or more.

dankrsta 06-02-2011 05:58 AM

^^Well, there's no time limit, and you don't have to listen to them and comment in order, but whatever suits you. If you need a link to some of those albums I can send you. I only don't have Crispin Glover at the moment.

Anyway, one more week to go and I'll be free as a bird, so this album club will have no more delays. Let's just hope people are still interested. I have to say Skaligojurah (sorry, can't memorize the new name) was the most active and persistent. :thumb:

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 06-06-2011 09:52 AM

did Berlin win?

dankrsta 06-07-2011 01:22 PM

Only three of us voted, but yes, Berlin did win. I will open the thread next Monday.

Art Zoyd - Berlin

Strange very beautiful album by the fiercely underrated, and overlooked chamber-prog outfit Art Zoyd. This is the last album they've ever written that wasn't a silent movie soundtrack, and probably their last album as a 'band' rather than a 20, or so member mini-orchestra.(they're quite as big at this point but not as). This is the point where they really really were starting to invest in electronics, and this is pretty much an industrial album. Yet, a very melodic industrial album, and in 1989 probably one of the first few of it's kind.

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 06-07-2011 06:37 PM

This album is wonderful, I hope people give it a good chance. (Albeit, probably not technically 'industrial' but still wonderful.)

I can supply a link for any who need it.

Right now, me and JackPat are looking into the concept of using mumu for album clubs, and opening an alternate mumu for full albums for club purposes, and in general.

Like an interactive album club radio.

... That's because there are only three of us.

Alright, so... Skaligojurah left Music Banter according to a few people, and dankrsta hasn't been around for about ten days...

Is the album club still running or what?

I'm sorry. Something came up and I won't be able to come here regularly for some time. If you want, you can continue with this club or start a new one.

Paedantic Basterd 07-18-2011 10:06 AM

If nobody is willing or able to take the club on, I would do it (in its own format) until someone was able to take over.

As always, you can hit me with a request to change the polls.

TockTockTock 07-18-2011 07:35 PM

Well, if someone decides to continue to run this, then I'm in.

Yea, it's fine. Everyone becomes a bit busy every once in a while.

Paedantic Basterd 07-20-2011 09:35 AM

If someone could tell me what the schedule is for this, I could run it for the next week.

Engine 07-20-2011 08:50 PM

There's a schedule?

Jesus Christ, train-man. I figured you'd be all about schedules. :p:

bob. 07-20-2011 10:05 PM

^so mean....:)

Pedestrian i think you should just swipe the whole thing clear and run it simalar to what you've done with the "General Album Club" as in a week to give nominations (but with each nomination a little description as to what it is and why it fits) and then a week for voting and then as dankstra did a new thread for disscussion

I'd hate to over-complicate something that seems to be working. I definitely could, but I'd like to leave it to the people who actually partake in the club to decide how they want to see it run.

But I'd like to wait to try and sync the clubs so I don't become confused as hell about the dates and polls.
