Default The Blood of Heroes

Quote:
The Blood of Heroes is a collaboration project featuring Justin Broadrick (Godflesh, Jesu, Napalm Death) and Bill Laswell, with beats from Submerged and End.user and vocals from Dr. Israel. Post apocalyptic soundscapes and de-imaged electronic beats backed up with heavy guitar and bass. Features live drumming from KJ Sawka and Balazs Pandi, and sound design from film sound architect M. Gregor Filip. Powerful anthemic tracks collide with vicious drum n bass beatdowns and intersperse with breathtaking synth beauty and Aphex Twin style mezzed beats. The soundtrack to post-solarflare humanity!
Quite the eclectic little project that I wouldn't expect everyone to enjoy or even understand. Most albums don't leave me this... compelled by the sound to actually make a thread that only three people would ever post in, but this album is the exception. I can't really say anything else that hasn't already been mentioned in the little band bio, so I'm just going to shut up, and post their Myspace to hopefully get a few responses and perhaps even a dialogue. I will say this though, this album is awesome for writing to.

I listened to them and really liked it. Justin Broadrick really knows his stuff. I propably have to atleast download this album and start sinking even deeper into their music.

Sounds awesome. I like.
I used to use Bill Laswell's sound sample packs a lot several years ago and I've always been a fan of KJ Sawka's insane live D&B drumming. I'm familiar with and dig End.User's music as well. I'll definitely look into this.
Thanks for this, Pete!

Update:
The album sounds great. Very familiar to me regarding all the D&B/Breakcore/Downtempo/Ambient stuff. Like the label's description indicates, it's definitely a crossover album. Feels like I'm listening to a collaborative compilation of artists I already like in electronic music sub-genres.
Transcendent is probably my favorite tune on the album so far.

I listened to this a good bit since yesterday. There's some really good tracks on it. I even recognize some of the samples they use, as I have them myself.
Just wanted to say I'm enjoying it a lot.
Thanks again, Pete.

No problem man, I've been listening to it non-stop on my Zune while working on my school projects. Something about it just works so well.

Loving the eclecticism at play throughout this debut, along with the samples and atmosphere on tracks like 'Bound'. It deserves a lot more attention than it seems to be getting on RYM and other places...

well it's a relatively new album by a a series of unknown artists so I'm inclined to give it some time to collect an audience. Then again last year Gin by Cobalt garnished a very sizable audience and got nearly universal acclaim. Now I mean the album totally deserved word it got because it was fucking amazing, but I'm not sure how it did it exactly. I'm hoping that this album can kind of take off in a similar fashion.

Justin Broadrick is a hero to legions of underground fans - has been for decades. I, for one, may not have given this album a listen if his name wasn't attached. Sorry for that pointless aside but I bristled at JB getting called an unknown artist.

On to the main point..great fu@king album! Ever since Jesu was born I've been convinced that Broadrick is a messianic figure in music and this is more proof. It's so rare that musicians get older and continually impress me more than they did in their youth but Broadrick is apparently blessed with magic.

Not to detract from the rest of the contributors to the album. The whole thing is just so satisfying. I love it when any music makes me feel angry, depressed and joyously uplifted all at the same time. this album does that.

So thanks, Pete, for making me take note. With that band name and cover art I may have passed this by assuming its a crappy metalcore album or something. Instead, it's now one of my favorite albums of the year

Yes perhaps I should have put "Most unknown" artists to make it a more truthful statement. I'm happy you enjoyed the album though
