People who make noise..
I just got a copy of "people that make noise" which is a documentary on the Portland Or experimental music scene. I was just wondering what other opion was on this movie that have seen it and what the general consensus was on artist that produce experimental noise.. personal I enjoy listen to things I've never heard..

I've listened to some pretty out-there "music". But aside from noise-rock I don't really dig.

I'm all about trying to push the envelope as in what is accepted as music... but the noise genre doesn't really get it done for me. The sound isn't pleasing to the ears all the time... nonetheless, it is experimental in nature.

Never seen the documentary, I'm interested in seeing in though. Any recommendations on where to find it though? I search for it on google and the first thing that came up was this thread lol.
As for noise music, I'm mostly into noise rock stuff like Melt-Banana, Lightning Bolt, Hella, An Albatross, Boredoms and The Locust. I'm sure not all of those would be considered noise rock, but they have a big noise influence and are for the most part very experimental. Its a genre I need to get back into as I haven't listened to that much really noisy stuff lately, I've been exploring other genres more in-depth. |
I come and go with pure noise - which isn't exactly what I meant to say, now that I look at it. What I meant is, sometimes where I live is pure noise enough that something gentle is required to offset. When I lived in Seattle I listened to LOTS of guitar noise - Musica Transonic, High Rise, etc. Here in Los Angeles it is more about not being driven mad by my immediate environment.
