Mono

I searched but didn't find a thread, so mods please merge if I failed.

I recently downloaded "One Step More and You Die" as well as the album they made with World's End Girlfriend, "Palmless Prayer/Mass Murder Refrain." Loved them both, especially Palmless Prayer, which had a very "F#A# Infinity" feel to it, minus all of the apocalyptic monologues. Anyone else listen to these guys?

Yeah I have the You Are There album from 2006 and it's stellar. Checkout Muon too Dac.

I can't believe there wasn't a thread on these guys, especially with the (much deserved) attention they've been garnering with the new album.

But yeah, awesome band.

You Are There is a post-rock gem.

I believe Wayfarer said he saw Mono live but that the show was pretty lame. :(

i have:
you are there
under the pipal tree
split w/ pelican
one step more and you die
hymn to the immortal wind
walking cloud and deep red sky, flag fluttered and the sun shined

they're pretty good... can't choose a favourite album. you are there is the first i heard and is pretty outstanding, but one step more and you die is really good too. great music to put on in the background.

i've heard they're pretty boring live as well.

I prefer World's End to Mono, but the collaboration between the two is marvelous.

Do you have a link to at least a couple of these (except You Are There) at all please?

I have You Are There, Hymn to the Immortal Wind and Walking Cloud and Deep Red Sky, Flag Fluttered and the Sun Shined. You Are There and Hymn to the Immortal Wind are definitely my favorites, and if you haven't heard those two records, get your hands on them. Songs like Ashes in the Snow (off of Hymn to the Immortal Wind) are just incredible.

I really disagree with whoever thinks they're boring live.

I went to see them when I was 16, didnt really know much about them at the time and wasn't really expecting a whole lot, and left the show blown away by how good they were. The build-ups are amazing live. I saw them again with Jesu last year, and they were just as good as the first time. Awesome live band.

I prefer the other band called Mono from the late 90s. They were a bit like a trip-hoppy Stereolab.
They released this wonderful album & then split
