Gang Gang Dance

Is the best thing I have heard in a long time. The girl really brings it all together.

cardboard adolescent 10-28-2008 03:08 AM

This is really good.

adidasss 10-28-2008 03:25 AM

I'm pretty sure I've heard and deleted it soon afterward. The vocals seemed pretty lame, but since Kevin Barnes seems to like them I'm tempted to give them another go.

Well Vacuum does sound a lot like a MBV song in a way.
It's an interesting album for sure (Saint Dymphna), very ecclectic, but is hasn't warrented a lot of listens in hindsight really.

Gross Horse 10-30-2008 11:49 PM

I didn't mind the album at all actually. For the most part, the instrumentation was well put together but near the end when the guy starts singing I lost interest.

cardboard adolescent 11-02-2008 03:18 PM

can anyone recommend me more noisy dance music in the same vein? someone put saint dymphna on at a party and it was awesome. need more party music that doesn't suck.

jackhammer 11-02-2008 03:57 PM

I missed this thread-I would'nt mind listening to them.

This is noisy? Mk...*unsure*

Anyway, after a few more listens I've definitely concluded that what I heard before wasn't them and that this stuff will not last on my computer. Not very memorable...sorry Kevin. :\

Farfisa 11-02-2008 06:13 PM

I do love the label (Social Registry) these guys are on but, like what was said above "Not very memorable".

What type of parties do YOU go too?

I'm having trouble thinking of anyone similar really, i suppose MIA has that same ecclectic feel to her music, and i'd feel fine popping her tunes on for a dance.

cardboard adolescent 11-03-2008 01:34 PM

i went to an awesome halloween party. the house show scene in chicago is pretty strong, lots of noisy amateurish dance music a la holy fuck... one of my friends is in a group called pure magical love, they have one actual musician who plays keyboard and sings and the rest of the band wear masks, play fake instruments, attack the audience, roll around naked on the floor, squirt fake blood and glitter everywhere, etc. it's good fun.

but yeah, i get mia at parties a lot.
blah.

jackhammer 11-04-2008 03:48 PM

i'm checking out the album now. It's a lot more chilled than I expected it to be. Don't know if that's good or bad.

Malicious Wakizashi 11-27-2008 08:42 PM

This band live was pretty ****ing good. They played with a pretty decent noise band from Chappel Hill and this awesome up and coming indie band called Rainbow Arabia. If you can locate their only EP as I did you won't regret it. But yeah I really liked how the lead singer incorporated a lot of grime influlence into her singing and she was wearing a Fishscale shirt which was hot.

Kevorkian Logic 11-27-2008 11:56 PM

you spelled chapel hill wrong.

And I really don't like Rainbow Arabia, they rub me the wrong way. I can't say i've ever listened to Gang Gang Dance, but if they are anything like Rainbow Arabia I can't see liking them.

Malicious Wakizashi 11-28-2008 01:10 PM

They are almost identical don't listen to either it might accidentally widen your musical taste.

cardboard adolescent 11-28-2008 03:33 PM

gang gang dance are a lot tighter than rainbow arabia, at least on their new album

Malicious Wakizashi 11-28-2008 03:48 PM

Nah Rainbow Arabia is tight.

cardboard adolescent 11-28-2008 04:12 PM

nah, they're loose

Malicious Wakizashi 11-28-2008 04:27 PM

yo mamma's loose

cardboard adolescent 11-28-2008 04:45 PM

you would know motherfucker

I think I already made it clear I have listened to one of them.

jackhammer 12-09-2008 09:12 AM

This album definitely get's better with each listen. I'm hearing something new every time. I would say to those not immediately blown away to give it another go.

Pornographie Nouveau 02-03-2009 03:12 PM

I really like St. Dymphodhosighosdghosiforgetwhatitscalled.
Nice to see something that's somewhat unique these days.

Farfisa 02-03-2009 07:36 PM

I admire their uniqueness but, I really can't get into them. Well, I guess we can't get into everything.

Malicious Wakizashi 02-11-2009 11:02 AM

I've had some difficulty getting into God's Money... I think I've actually only heard it once but maybe that will grow on me. St. Dymphna is hard not to like, though.

I could totally see a bunch of people at a party grooving to House Jam.

vacuumnoise 04-16-2009 11:34 AM

check out IUD if you like more noisy stuff, the one girl is from GGD

Paedantic Basterd 09-28-2010 01:10 AM

I have recently become obsessed with Saint Dymphna.

debaserr 04-14-2011 05:11 PM

new album leaked.

+81 04-14-2011 06:35 PM

Haven't heard Saint Dymphna (aside form two tracks) or the new one (aside from one track). I remember the two from Saint Dymphna not being overly impressive but I might have check it out eventually since I love God's Money. God's Money II has got to be one of my favourite songs period.

Rage Against the Machine 04-14-2011 06:58 PM

These guys have been sitting in my last.fm recommendations for probably two years and I'm trying them out for the first time right now, with the new album. Good stuff.

Paedantic Basterd 04-14-2011 06:59 PM

Oh ****, definitely getting on this today.

keith! 04-14-2011 09:07 PM

This new album is insane!!!

Oh **** gang gang!

Paedantic Basterd 04-19-2011 11:22 PM

I definitely see Eye Contact coming up in my top 10 at the end of the year.

it's a marvelous album.

ListenUp 05-17-2011 05:10 AM

I saw them at ATP at the weekend and they were absolutely unbelievable live! Seriously amazing :)

adidasss 05-17-2011 07:09 AM

I like the new album, but again, not something I would get obsessed about. Cool background music tho...

simonbrew 12-19-2011 06:29 AM

how would u describe their sound?

Paedantic Basterd 12-19-2011 07:48 AM

Chaotic.

And pop.
