Stinking Lizaveta
An instrumental trio who play a sort of doom metal jazz hybrid. I can't make my mind up whether I like them. They are definitely musically tight but I could see myself becoming bored by them quickly. Any fans?

Nice! Iv'e been looking for something like this for a long time.
Here are some friends of mine, a band from Boston called Schleigho who do an entirely different spin on the doom Jazz concept. Sorry for the quality: |
I forgot about this band. does anybody have any of their stuff?
|
I like this band a lot, I wish there was something more though to them, I don't quite know yet, but something that made it a little bit more complex.
|
They do have a simple approach but at least it provides a talking point. I really want to hear more from them to gauge a more informed opinion.
|
I might be interested in listening to more, but they do seem to have quite a simple approach...might get bored of it quick. Well, can't really judge on two tracks.
|
I have a little by this band. They first came to my attention when they played a tiny little place in Newcastle called The Head Of Steam. The mates I went with had seen them a few years earlier in Glasgow with COC and Clutch.
I was very, very impressed with them live. The intimacy of the venue meant the volume went through the roof, they were a very tight band and I also found myself mesmerised by the guitarist playing with his teeth and the chick they had drumming who was stretching and doing push up's in the middle of the pub before the gig. |
Wow! Stinking Lizaveta is incredible, though Schleigho seems to just be straight up fusion, not really "doomjazz" per say.
Mutante is also a worthy mention.... MySpace.com - Mutante - Monterrey, MX - Progressive / Experimental / Jazz - www.myspace.com/musicamutante |

sounds great. well... the video is removed so thanks for the link 333.
can only find live videos which don't do them justice but here's orthodox anyways: spanish doom w/ jazz influences |
Saw them at ATP in 2004... were pretty tight if memory serves me correctly!
