Default Sunburned Hand of the Man

God told me to listen to these guys.

I see them get tagged "New Weird America" or "freak folk" sometimes, but I don't know how much I like those genres seeing as how they tell you next to nothing about the group's actual sound. Sunburned Hand of the Man are basically a jam band, but definitely not in the Phish tradition, closer to Amon Duul ... the first one. It sounds like about half of the people playing know how to play their instruments, and the other half are probably to busy tripping to really care. So you end up with open-ended tunes that go nowhere but approach nirvana, at moments, before ripping it up into noisy chaos. If you're in the mood for it, it's a lot of fun to listen to. Psychedelic, weird, noisy... what more could you ask for?

Plus, God wants you to listen to them.

This is one of those bands I want to listen to a lot, but still haven't for some god forsaken reason.

I'll get an album ASAP.

I may need to pay my local indie record store a visit, as more of this band would be fantastic.
