LOVE the cover of the new album :love: i was already looking forward to this....this just makes it ten fold :) |
tours dates to support The Sneer have been release on Young God's website.....Sept. 10th will be a most wonderful night for me
|
I've listened to their first few records, and really dug them, but I'm listening to Children of God for the first time, and it's really captured my imagination. Love, love, love it. Gonna have to really give them a thorough listening to now.

Children of God was an amazing turning point for Swans....the albums get "softer" from there on out....well at least compared to the raw power of Filth and Cop....but in all honesty....at least in my opinion....their feel never really changes....it is just delivered in various ways.....and is ever encompassing :)

Hi New here - oddly enough, have been listening to Swans/Angels an awful lot lately and in doing so, discovered another band you may have already mentioned - Skins. Just Gyra and Jarboe apparently. The first album (Blood Women Roses) sounds like a Jarboe solo record and is okay, but the second one (Shame Humility Revenge) is terrific - kind of like a deeply weird cross between Angels and Soundtrack for the Blind-era Swans, if that makes sense. Third album has an incredible cover picture of a three headed dog but I have not heard it yet.

Quote:
It's my most anticipated album by far, at the moment. They never disappoint, and seeing them was easily one of my top 5 shows. I actually saw Michael Gira a month or so ago, playing in an old converted church. That was cool as **** too - even moreso as Grouper was supporting. Not much beats the feral intensity of Swans live, though! |
swans just don't seem to be able to have bad album covers ^^
unless it's bad in a good way :D |
Though it's only crappy transcode and it might improve with the better mastering that we'll get upon official release, the copy of The Seer I heard deflated me quite a bit. Was anticipating it greatly, then I found myself being bored to death by the lack of variation in the drones and textures.

SWANS: THERE’S THE GUY WITH THE PENIS! | L.A. RECORD
thought i'd share this wonderful interview with Gira a great quote as he describes what he wants Swans to feel like to the listener "More like if you picture a worm on an anvil and you slam that anvil with a sledgehammer—that’s how I wanted it to be. From the worm’s point of view." |
Bumping to ask where I should start with Angels of Light.
