Oh my god, these guys are ****ing unbelievable! Any more stuff like this?

Awesome video and song, I'm gonna have to look them up now. For some reason, Major Organ and the Adding Machine popped into my head while I was listening though.

Just found out about these guys. Atlas is phenomenal.
I've yet to hear them sober, though, so I'm hoping it won't be a let down when I do.

My brother played me Atlas and I loved it. The music video for it is awesome too. I also like the song "ddiamondd". If you take the lyrics and look at them without the music it TOTALLY sounds like some poem a disillusioned teen would write.

I'm not trying to start a war or anything, and I appreciate what this band tries to do in terms of experimenting... but I think they suck badly. "Atlus" is probably their best song (IMO) and I still think it's below mediocre at best.

Do you mean that in terms of their playing skill, or creative ideas?

In a ways, both. I don't think that their compositions allow them to display their playing skills adequately. Not that good music needs to be complex or have shredding...

And as for creativity... their ideas are a bit interesting but they do not go strongly enough in whatever direction they are heading that their songs leave a marked impression on me. In "Atlas" for example, I feel like their something a little too minimalistic and lacking about the music... Essentially, it feels like they're trying a bit too hard to be interesting, so their songs have ambiguous direction - this gives the song a mediocre atmosphere.

This, of course, is my opinion. I'm not sure how musically talented the players are, but in my experience, good composition and creativity can cover up in lack in actual talent. If you have any examples of "cooler" songs from these guys, I'd like to seem them.

Normally I'd have the same view of it if we were talking about anyone else, specifically most of the post-rock groups I've heard.

But there's just something about Atlas. I hear it, I like it. It's as analytical as I get with it.
But I understand where you're coming from.

Don't worry. We all have a couple of bands that we just kind of "like", despite the fact that there's not anything really tangible you can bring to the table in regards to why. Some songs just click.

I love this band but I can see that like TMV they're gonna get much hate in the future.

I don't know why I rant about it either, 4 years of being a prog fan, I should be used to it by now.
