I love GY!BE. Great stuff that has a lot of soul in it. This is probably one of the best bands to meditate to because it leads your mind to follow your thoughts much easier. This is powerful music.

They're a pretty good band, I like Skinny Fists. They are a bit slow so I can see why some people don't like this band but by saying **** like "Not stupid enough to spend 40 minutes listening to a Godspeed You! Black Emperor song" you're just bringing yourself down.

I'm about to d/l some Silver Mt Zion and I was wondering which albums you all thought are the best.

May I suggest Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada? I think it is their best work.

never really checked them out for, no real reason.

is it intriguing or more typical post-rock? not that I don't like typical post-rock, but still

Well, what bands are you referring to as typical post-rock?

Well, I honestly haven't listened to them that much. I am more into Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Red Sparowes, GY!BE, A Silver Mount Zion, etc.

I personally find Godspeed's music much more "active" I guess. Like sometime post-rock will tend to, in the case of Sigur Ros, not really climax well whereas there may be more than 5 times in a Godspeed song where there is epic drum-pounding. I find the cello to be the most powerful instrument in their music. I personally find their music very "philosophically heavy" in that it is great music to ponder a thought to. Even when they are pretty much doing nothing I still feel like there music is knocking on my soul the whole time to open up. Like I said earlier, GREAT music to meditate to. That reminds me, I haven't meditated in a long while...
