If it wasn't for post-rock groups like Slint and Tortoise Young Team wouldn't exist.

I can not comment on Mogwai in general as I've only heard Young Team, which to me, sounds like them two bands only with the intricacy and subtly removed and replaced with cheesy quite-loud dynamics.
