I have a feeling seeing a Mogwai show would probably put me into some sort of sensory overload and blow my mind.... which is exactly what I'd be looking for...

I actually could've gone to the Toronto show, but I was/am honestly broke so I couldn't. Plus I had an audition for a school today so I couldn't rationalize putting the concert before practice I had to do.

I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of kicking myself now though.

They're playing an hour away from me tonight and I didn't buy a ticket cause I thought I'd have a final tomorrow to study for. I don't, of course.

Mogwai is probably one of the only bands that I like in the whole post rock genre. Then again, I am not very familiar with that genre at all.

They are really a beautiful band. My favorite albums Young Team, 4 Satin EP, and Mr. Beast. On Mr. Beast, my favorites are Friend of the Night and Autorock. Friend of the Night is so beautiful!
I tried listening to Godspeed You! Black Emporer but I just couldn't take it. Not enough going on.

I recently found out about Mogwai and decided to listen to some of their stuff after smoking a massive bowl.

I don't really know how I feel about them yet, or about post-rock in general.
I get the feeling that this type of music is something I'd hear in a movie during a scene where a fireman saves a kitten from a busy intersection.

I tend to like music that plays in a scene where the kitten gets run over.

Mogwai can actually get somewhat heavy at times, well, at least compared to the rest of post rock.

Are you sure you weren't listening to Coldplay by mistake?

MOGWAI is generally classified by most as post-rock. HOWEVER, they do not refer to themselves in that genre. In fact, the resent the entire "post-rock" movement. Instead, they refer to themselves as "action rock"; which is indeed why they named one of their albums as "rock action".

Seems weird of them to refer to themselves as "action rock". The connotation that implies doesn't really fit with their music, in my opinion.
Did they coin that term, or is that an already established genre?
