I played some Sigur Ros (The acoustic version of "Njosnavelin") for my friends the other day... they talked about cutting themselves (jokingly as in how bad it was).

"C'mon... you guys have no taste."

Not the most exciting response.

Well it's true.
I understand difference in opinion, but Sigur Ros? Cutting?

The dude that talked about cutting himself is going to a Ben Folds Five concert in about a week.

I do not pity him.

I have a funny relationship with Sigur Rós. I really liked Ágætis byrjun but never bothered checking out anything after it. I think I wasn't sure what direction they could possibly go in with their sound that wouldn't be a letdown.

Music is a matter of taste and feelings Your friends probably aren't on wave of dreamy atmospheric music.

Ok, so if I understand well, you are afraid you will be dissapointed with other albums. Than I recommend to try album ( ) - togeher with Ágætis byrjun my two favourites and I hope it won't dissapoint you. At least sound of this album is in my opinion more similar to Ágætis byrjun than other albums.

I downloaded Takk and listened to it for a while.

Then I realized it was overblown symphonic prog.
Ágætis byrjun and () are much better albums, I'd say.
