They're pretty. Their listener friendly songs aren't listener friendly. I like all their stuff.

I realy like their two most recent albums. However, saw them live at The Fillmore this winter and couldn't stand them. I'm all for experimental music, but this was just too much.

I generally enjoy noiserock. However, Animal Collective is one of the genre's weaker acts, in my opinion.

The Four Tet remixes of one of two or their songs are pretty nice

as are most four tet remixes... his style is pretty much the same on all his remixes, but he does pick/get good songs to do!

Animal Collective is one of my favorite acts these days. Campfire Songs and Sung Tongs are their two best albums. As a live band they are also entertaining, especially if you're tripping on drugs.
Also, you gotta love that they worked with Vashti Bunyan on the Prospect Hummer EP. Vashti is my favorite female musician of all time, and her songs are great. Love classics like "Diamond Day," "Glow Worms," "Timothy Grub," "I'd Like To Walk Around In Your Mind," etc, etc, etc. Not to mention her recent album. And if you like Animal Collective, Panda Bear's album is great too. |

i picked up the 2xCD release of 'Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished / Danse Matanee' today and listening to it now... i must say im enjoying it a whole lot more than i used to. it was placed in the Noise/Avant Garde section of my local record shop away from Feels and Sung Tongs in the indie section and quite rightly so.. both the albums are about as far away from 'Grass' as you can get.. still awesome stuff though! definately one of my favourite bands... anyone heard the new live album? |

Animal Collective is hot, i'm seeing them in september. Prospect Hummer is amazing, feels is good too.

I think I like anything Animal Collective related. One of my friends lent me Feels and it took me a while to get into it, but once I got into it, it was amazing. I later got some more of their stuff from friends. One of my best friends is a huge Animal Collective fan, so I get stuff from him.

New album leaked and I like it a lot. A lot of good poppy type stuff, with a healthy dose of weird noises.

Yeah it's actually pretty solid. I'm not a huge fan of any of their previous records, so this is their most consistent release to me.

i was going to wait a bit but i didnt... been listening to it today. first impressions:
Lots of electronics.. hmmm Vocals not quite as striking or frail as previous releases.. Its mostly full of upbeat happy songs.. whearas Feels had more avant-garde tracks mixed in. Its very consistent, but not very varied considering their previous work.. The songs are great, but im missing the darker, quieter 'magical' parts that Feels had.. favourite songs at the mo i think are at the end of the album.. Winter Wonder Land and Derek.. Fireworks is awesome too... OK i havent been in the mood for them at all recently, but i still love them :D |
I like the opener, Chores, and Fireworks a lot.

animal collective is amazing. it may take a couple listens to get into the groove, but its well worth it, imo

Just saw them live a couple of weeks ago. About 1/3 of the stuff that they played was new (and ridiculously good) . I think Avey and Panda are two of the most talented singers out there.
