I think I've already listened to Boy's Latin too much. I get it stuck in my head all the time.

Haven't heard the whole album yet. I'm one of those people who still buy the CD, and I haven't seen it in a store yet.

I caught him at Sasquatch music festival last year and couldn't shake that song for days. The wait for a non-bootleg version was torturous!

OK I bought the album today. Have only listened to it once, but here are a few observations:

1. Basically, it's better than Tomboy but not as good as Person Pitch. I'm really starting to think he'll never come up with an album as good as Person Pitch again.
2. Pretty good mix of songs.
3. Three or four of the songs sounded a bit like highly electronicized/synthesized renditions of 70's disco songs.
4. One of the songs (#10 I think), I immediately recognized the sample from Debussy.

Now the complaint:

5. I'm starting to get a bit tired of the ambient/background electronic effects. Mr. Noah is the worst case of this. He overwhelms the song so much with the "background" effects it almost drowns out the vocals, and I find myself turning up the volume to try to hear the vocals/melody more, but then I immediately get annoyed because then the background stuff is waaay too loud. This kind of thing is my only gripe about Centipede Hz. He (and the rest of AnCo) need to lay off on that IMO, it's getting old.

Person Pitch is an absolute masterpiece to be fair. Potential 10/10.

I've actually always been confused over the love for Person Pitch and MPP. They're both kinda samey, in themselves and to each other. They're great, but I dunno, I like the more personal stuff. Maybe it's just the production, but they both felt pretty distant in comparison to something like the Panda Bear album or Spirit They're Gone.
I mean, that's just my opinion. I'm not saying those are better objectively, I just don't see how they're worse.

For the record, I love both PP and MPP. Don't crucify me!

They're starting to write songs for a new album!

ANIMAL COLLECTIVE, ON ‘PROSPECT HUMMER’’S LEGACY AND RETURNING TO THE STUDIO
Quote:
[...]

Following Panda Bear’s recent confirmation that Animal Collective are headed back into the studio to record the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Centipede Hz.’ Avey Tare makes a commendable effort to remain tight-lipped, though he lets slip that something resembling an album is starting to come together. “Yeah, over the past few months I’ve been writing some songs. I think we’re starting to have a group of songs that we’re thinking about recording,” he laughs.
And this here is a really nice conversation between "Deakin," a reporter and Vashti Bunyan talking about doing Prospect Hummer 10 years ago.
