It's a challenging listen for sure, but it's worth it. Not their best album but it's solid.

I thought the new one was incredibly poppy and easy to listen to.

Moreso than MPP? Or even Strawberry Jams? I thought it had a lot more noise than either of those, but i haven't given it as many listens as i should either.

Transverse Temporal Gyrus? The really ambient one they used in the Guggenheim?

You know what's crazy? It's probably their best video yet. At least most coherent.

My favorite off of the new album is probably Moonjock, although overall it's not their best.

I really liked Applesauce, it moves very smoothly. And Wide Eyed was a highlight for me, probably because they opened their show with it back when I saw them and i was rockiiin. But also, Father Time was cool.

I haven't given centipede hz a full listen yet, but I have been listening to a lot of older animal collective lately. I would go as far as to say that they might be one of my top 5 groups of all time. Feels, Strawberry Jam, Merriweather, and Sung Tongs are all fantastic. However, I get the impression that centipede isn't as good, which is the only thing keeping me from giving it a spin :/

It's good. I mean, Sung Tongs is great, but it has a lot of really dragging moments too. Most of the album has virtually no change if you ask me, and it can be taxing to listen to all the way through. HZ is a fun listen, as well as one where the electronic element becomes much more in focus, as opposed to being put in a more organic context, as it has mostly been used on their past albums. It's more futuristic, which makes sense since they said they wanted to sound like an "alien band" or some old shit.

It's not their best, but it's definitely another interesting step for them as well as a fun album.
