Or do they simply reject this other aspect of experience in favour of the protracted state of ecstacy in which they seem to exist? "A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down" may be a useful idiom to know, but come on!?!?! They need to produce a few darker songs, grow up a little, come out of their drug-dazed never-never land, if only to counterbalance the manic happiness of their records. Then I'll decide whether I like them or not. (Which is not to say that they're untalented, of course, but merely that such unremitting cutesiness is a bit tough to take.)
I actually like this about Animal Collective. Their songs may all be happy but that doesn't lower their music in terms of quality, for me at least.

Have you heard Feels yet? If not, definitely get it next.

I have it but haven't listened yet. I've also listened to People but I was doing other things and not really paying attention.

The quality is superb, as I mentioned, but perhaps it could be put to interesting use exploring themes other than merely being high and happy. Everyone knows by now that the hippies of the late sixties got it wrong in this regard. "Peace and Love," and nothing else, is an untenable ideal to inhabit. (Although it must be said that these guys seem to be decent suburban kids who just happen to smoke pot and do acid rather than the "dirty hippies" of "yesteryear.")

I have everything except for Sung Tongs. Can anyone help me complete the collection?
