A Silver Mt. Zion is becoming one of my favorite bands ever. Everyone should get into Horses in the Sky, better than anything Godspeed did.

In any case a lot of the 90's bands tagged as post-rock get a lot of love from me, but a lot of the stuff from the last few years sounds pretty same-y to me. Still good to listen to every once in a while.
I was always led to believe that the term was first used by a writer who wanted a clever way of describing Stereolab's music. Obviously Stereolab are not considered a post rock band but then there was no established genre in 91 or 92 when it was written to compare it with , just a name someone used to describe it.

The genre tag has been around for a long time, but as a generally defined sound it has been gaining a lot more exposure. As for Talk Talk, Spirit Of Eden was a couple of years earlier than Laughing Stock and could just as easily be classed as post rock. In fact there are a couple of tracks from The Colour of Spring (April 5th and Chameleon Day) that sit proudly in this tag which are even earlier (86). I am a big TALK TALK fan. Mark Hollis's forever gestating debut is a sublime album too.
