I totally understand that.

However, I personally found it intriguing that didn't even introduce themselves or greet the crowd for coming out. Especially since it was an outside show and it was freezing, plus it was a local show! I think it resounded in me more because of that article that someone posted in this thread that made them out to be pretentious douchebags.

Anyway, they put on a good show, TheFolkslave. They played with a lot of emotion, which I enjoyed a lot. Highly recommended.

TWDY are likely gonna be a little pretentious and distant until they get rid of the post-rock fans that they hate having on their roster. Once Tunnel Blanket drops, they might return to normal. I recall reading some things about how kind they were in early tours. Possibly just faulty information, though.

So I've decided that since no one else has bumped this thread since December, I might as well be the one to do it.

TWDY's newest ep was alright. There was one song that was posted on here a whileee back but it didn't really stand out to me. Slightly off-topic question, but doesn't anyone still listen to Sunn O)))?

I've always thought that Sunn O))) is quite over-rated. The only thing I like from them is the Altar they did with Boris.

Hey, I'm looking to get into post-rock. Could any of you people give me a couple of recommendations on which album(s) to start with? (:

First I would recommend you to listen to some easier to get into pr albums.
Ef - I am Responsible
Ioseb - The Ghost of 33
This Will Destroy You - Young Mountain
Explosion in the Sky - Any album will do fine imo. (The earth is not a cold dead place is good) I'm not a huge fan of theirs but they are pretty much the best gateway post-rock band out there and have some pretty cool songs.
All these are quite easy to get into. If you enjoy these you must listen to Godspeed You! Black Emperor's Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven. GY!BE might be harder to get into because of the 20min songs with movements but it's totally worth it in the long run.

If you want to you can send me a personal message and I can send you links to some great post-rock releases. I myself listen to tons of bands and I think I can find you some good ones

Start with some Mogwai. An album like Happy Music For Happy People is quite accessable. If that piques your interest, start diverging onto the likes of Bark Psychosis, Slint, Talk Talk and Tortoise. I always find that beginning with the founders of a genre is the best way to really understanding and gaining an affinity with it. But that's just me.

Hi everybody

My first concert of 2011 were post-rock legends - Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
Mmmm, what a band! Totally unique and incomparable to another post-rock bands. It was very hypnotic evening. I am glad I had a chance to see them live. If you have a chance, it's worth to go!
It was about 110 minutes and they said nothing, no hello or bye. They just came, played and went away from stage. People weren't sorry about it because the music is what everybody came for.

Try these:
Sigur Rós - ( )
God is an astronaut - All Is Violent, All Is Bright
Caspian - Tertia
Explosions in the skies - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place
Gifts from Enola - From Fathoms
