According to their site:
" hi everyone, well, our tour is over and we're all at home doing normal things again (changing diapers, mowing the yard, taking naps, reading mail, preparing for ping pong tournaments, etc). thanks to everyone who made it out to any of the shows and a huge thanks to the flaming lips and startdeath guys (and their crews). it was a real honor and a privilege traveling around with you. there won't be anymore shows for awhile (aside from our ATP show in the UK this December) as we're hoping to just settle in and get to work on writing a new record. we've made some progress and we're pretty excited, but we still have a long way to go. we'll keep you posted. as always, thanks for caring. love, explosions" So it'll be a while. Anywho, new F*ck Buttons cd is leaked, and it's amazing. |

EitS could have came out with a new album this year, and I could have listened to it, and still wouldn't have realized they came out with a new album. Seriously, EitS are nice for a little while, but they really suffer from a lack of exploration (or something). It all just really blends together compared to a lot of other acts.

They show the ability to explore different categories of their genre, but they don't change their sound to fit the situation at all. TEINACDP and The Rescue are very good albums. Although, I don't think the other albums meet those standards. The standards being of course, the ability of the music to gel with the atmosphere they were obviously trying to create. (TEINACDP is more of an album about the abstract emotion of love, and The Rescue reminds me of friendships, but whatever, that's personal.) I just feel they meet their standards excessively. Any-who, amazing video: YouTube - El Ten Eleven - My Only Swerving Just watch 'em play, so much fun. |

I didn't really care for The Rescue as an overall album, thought it had one or two solid tracks. My personal favorite would be TWTTTSD, but TEINACDP would be a very close second. As far as the music not gelling with the atmosphere, I'd say you could argue that about their latest album, but as far as I'm concerned that's their only real slip-up in that regard. In fact, the continuity of the atmosphere on TWTTTSD is what makes it my favorite album of theirs.

My favorite EitS album is "All Of A Sudden...", followed by "The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place".
I loved the piano piece on All Of A Sudden so much, I don't understand why they couldn't have done more of it on the album. Seriously, Who Do You Go Home To? and So Long, Lonesome might be one of the best songs they have ever made. They're definitely my favorite post-rock groups. Also up there is Mono. EDIT: As much as I like TWTTSD, I prefer their more hopeful music, as in what they've been doing the past few years. They're really one of the only cheerful/hopeful post-rock bands I know. |
