nah that was just the carrier, the metaphor. He may well have believed it but the Arkestra sure as hell didn't (if you think compiling a Sun Ra discog is hard try a roster of Arkestra members...)

edit: but anything's possible, it certainly adds a new anglewhen you are so wrapped up in the music and start thinking it could have only been made by an angel from Saturn who's seen things we can only dream about

But you'd have to agree some details surrounding the event could lead to some. . . speculation.

i'm not familiar with those details... spill it! Unless you're being sarcastic in which case you probably shouldn't

all i know is that being in the arkestra in Ra's 60's New York period would have been a ****ing gas

well i'd have to read up and get the dates and details, certainly raises an eyebrow though. I mean he goes way back doesn't he, big band swing and all that stuff, and I'm not sure but the drive-in horrors and B-movies that must have stirred that paranoia couldn't have been a 40's thing. Although Roswell was 1947... when was his experience?

Well, as soon as I'm done downloading 61 Ra albums I will lock myself in my room for the next week and listen to nothing but Sun Ra. Oh, what a joyous experience that will be.
