Default Spiderland - Slint

In my opinion, the equal first best album to come out of the 90's along with Wowee Zowee by Pavement.

Do you love it? are you apathetic to it? do you hate it? The only reason I can think for someone hating it is because in their rush to get it because it is one of the greatest albums ever, a loved on crashed their car and killed themselves.

I love this album. I listened to Tweez before I got it, so I already liked Slint, but when I listened to this it blew me away - the melodies, time signatures, incredible tension building, the whole thing is a sustained aural orgasm.

It feels like an incredibly short album, but each of the six tracks is over five minutes - not many bands can hold my attention that well for eight minutes like Slint does on Washer.

I don`t really rate it to be honest , but you can`t really deny it`s influence.

Live Slint set from France

No need to thank me. Anyone on this forum who still hasn't heard Slint really needs to. I guess that's a fine place to start.

Spiderland is pretty damn awesome. It's perfectly written and not anything short of classic.

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that.

Fantastic album. There are a couple of tracks I don't get into as much, but the general sound of the album is great. The last track is my favourite.

The end of Good Morning Captain, where he screams "I miss you", is THE best and most emotional ending to a song I've heard. The way it builds up to it is special, it's such a chilling song.

I really love this album, although For Dinner kinda bores me. But the rest is so good I'd still give it 5/5. I love the way the vocal can alterate from like quiet hushed spoken word to frantic shouting. I need to hear Tweez soon!
