Heh. I almost whipped out that piece of trivia when I saw nobody else had. Yeah, Louisville, Kentucky was certainly the hot spot for good indie music in the early 90s.
But, really, that can't be the only thing you like about the album.

Most of the tracks were pretty decent, I wasn't real big on the spoken word. The closer was a really amazing song though.

One of the best records ever in terms of atmosphere, in my opinion.

I love this album. It's technical yet filled with emotion. I think I will give it another spin tomorrow. It really has so many good things going for it.

It truly made me rethink music in general. Just the way it could be composed and pieced together and I owe it a lot for that!

It makes me feel sad but it's amazing.

Spiderland is pretty amazing definatley one of my favorite albums from the 90's. The lyrics are like poetry and the instruments are so dark, great stuff.

Nope I 100% agree with you. Actually I just came here from the Tortoise topic hehe:D. Still they're a fantastic band; Good Morning Captain being my favourite song on the album. Also this topic has just reminded me that I really need to give Tweez a listen.

SATCHMO 08-07-2010 11:53 AM

Yeah, I checked it out a couple of days ago and thought it was pretty lame. It would've been much better without any vocals. The spoken word lyrics are cheesy and trite. Musically it's pretty alright, but yeah, I'd take a any Tortoise album over Spiderland any day.

I can't choose between Tortoise and Slint tbh.
