well i got it after much delay a few days ago, listened to it many times over. Glad it didn't turn out to be all hype. The post-rock tag I find really self-conscious though, it feels like a grunge/punk-informed kind of contemporary progressive rock (contemporary for 1991).
As somebody said it's not something you put on for a quick spin but neither is anything with a snowballing, brooding atmosphere like Spiderland... I can see how influential it must have been, and the weird chords and amazing dissonant guitar playing mark this out from other so-so 'post rock' I've hear (Explosions in the Sky for one was yawnsome) so yeah positive vote from me. The length of the album is just perfect too, it doesn't outstay it's welcome |
I'm like, the only person here who hasnt heard this album yet then?
I've seen it mentioned all over this site ever since I signed up and just never got round to it. I dont know why either because it sounds like its right down my street. |
^ I can take care of that for ya.

Much appreciated!

I've never heard of them, but don't worry, I'm searching for some album downloads right now. I could only find 1 torrent for the album Spiderland, and its downloading extremely slow right now (5 kb/sec...) I'm willing to take any links right now. I just finished listening to Good Morning, captain and Breadcrumb Trail on Youtube, and I can definately hear the influence they have had on so many. I'm really liking this so far.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :banghead: The point of the album is to listen to it from beginning to end uninterrupted. But i'm just being a ****, so ignore me. |

This band is amazing though. It creates such a great sound with just your basic rock set up. Some of the most creative guitar work I've heard in a while. And Woah. The torrent for Spiderland is now downloading at 20 kb/sec. EDIT: The album finally downloaded. I listened to the album from start to finish uninterrupted. It was great. The band does such a good job of holding my attention. They managed to make some of the songs long and slowly build up without boring me. I asbsolutely love the guitar work. Its creative and dissonant at many times and goes with the vocals so well, it sets a really isolated feel. |
if i'm in the right mood it's probably my favourite album.
i've began learning their songs on guitar, starting with Breadcrumb Trail. what an awesome song! |

I personally didn't like Tweez as much as I liked Spiderland. It's definately worth a listen, but imo it lacks the emotional orgasm that spiderland takes you too. The song Good morning, captain is probably one of my favorite songs ever, everytime I hear it my mind just escapes into this whole other world. |
