In what universe is post-punk and punk not generally quite immediate? It's one of the main virtues of both genres.

One of my main genres is all this "boring" singer-songwriter stuff that doesn't exactly jump out and grab you by the throat with powerful pop hooks, but it's definitely not 9 minute long complex and multi-layered fusion jazz exercises either.

To me, music is 95% about the "vibe". How it makes me feel. Immediacy or lack thereof is neither (despite what I said about punk) positive or negative. It's just a neutral qualifier.

Although I definitely love a good, shameless pop hook. There's a reason I love Lady Gaga <3
