You can do it aloud but they probably won't hear you.

I'll go summon him from his underground lair when things have settled down.

Is it like the Goro lair with the giant skeleton and you gotta win 5 rounds in a row flawlessly using nothing but high kicks and no blocking?

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

The problem with DJ Chameleon is, of course, that he can blend so well into his surroundings, it's hard to find him when you want to. Never mind: legend has it that in its darkest hour, when the forum really needs DJ, he will run away.

That was definitely my plan too. Nothing personal.

It's actually a self-sustaining biodome hidden under a mountain.

Is this really a thing? What do you get for doing it?

There's similar, they usually have you fight hidden characters. Reptile in the original MK was like, you have to get a double flawless with out blocking and a fatality on the pit stage while there are silhouettes flying past the moon. One of them was you have to use nothing but high kicks, I think it was Jade.

The mod team and I have been doing some talking about the landscape that's been observed over the last few months. I'm sure everybody has noticed that there seems to be a lot more personal attacks being thrown around lately. I don't have to name names. We're all thinking of them, but there are more than just those 2-3 that have either been attacked themselves or have gotten out of line. The following is word for word our rules about how members are supposed to behave on this forum. I've highlighted the things I will talk further about.

I want to be clear that the other rules are still in place and will be enforced per usual but this thread/announcement is really just to go over the bold areas of the rules.

Personal Attacks - Seems to be the go-to option when in a heated debate/pissy fit with somebody lately. We are no longer a large community. We have grown smaller and more isolated. Personal info is becoming more common due to some of us being friends and also because it's nice to fill people in of life events since most of us have known each other for the better part of a decade(Even longer in some cases).

Using this personal info to insult somebody is NOT to be tolerated anymore.

Discretion will be used of course but these types of personal attacks have no place here and the mod team, I admit, has been a bit lenient on such events. Family members will not be brought into arguments to hurt another member. Personal hardships will not be used to hurt other members. No more.

Discretion, again, will be used. For example...

Batlord calls me fat. I retort by telling him he has no friends.

We've joked about this with each other for a long time. It's a joke between us. This will not be seen as personal attacks. We're still allowed to have fun around here. It'll be more obvious when this rule is broken. I just don't want you guys to think we're going to suck the fun out of throwing some light jabs out there. This isn't the case. You all know what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the things that go too far. Those end now.

Purposeless Inflammatory Posts - This is a bit less of an issue but occasionally I see something said on here, not aimed at a particular member, but made with the sole purpose to piss somebody off. These posts will be deleted and warnings given out.

Punishment

Bans will be given to those who throw out personal attacks. Repeat offenses will receive longer ban lengths and may result in a perma-ban.

Be fucking nice to each other.

We are ALL going through hardships, bouts of this and that, rough times, etc...

We are ALL living lives. We're humans. Most of us are friends. I'm tired of seeing down right nasty sh*t being thrown at each other. 98% of us are adults. If somebody disagrees with you, do NOT go for the throat with personal sh*t. It's over.

Thank You.

-- The Mod Team

Yay!

For the record, I actually just saw this. I came back to respond to Lucem.

But, yeah, I think if we start treating each other with respect, you'll get new members and it won't be the same six people talking about music.

Speaking of which, I have to catch up on Troll's Bowie reviews.

I also applaud this clear statement of policy from the Mod Team. Well done guys, and thanks Exo!

Trollheart and a couple of you have posted some very kind remarks which I'm sure I don't really deserve, but thanks anyway.

A couple of things I try to keep in mind on MB are:-
i) I come here for pleasure, not aggravation
ii) at some level, all of us are kindred spirits: we all have an above-average interest in music.
iii) everyone has a right to an opinion

That's why, when I post here, my mindset is like sitting down in a café with friends. No difference of opinion is important enough to threaten the underlying camaraderie. One of the many reasons that I enjoy MB so much is that most posters, most of the time, keep the same sense of proportion.

^ Topic for a different thread really, but this always concerns me. People lurk or drift away and I think it'd be more tempting to newcomers if MB clearly showed that this is a friendly, united place - or as Gillian Welch puts it in The Way It Goes :-

People ought to stick together. That's the way to make a crowd.

(*cues up Kumbaya soundtrack*)
