Mord's Meltdown
 

While I totally respect his right to do as he wishes, my attention was drawn to Mord's journal, and the fact that EVERY ENTRY IN IT HAS BEEN DELETED BY HIM. Does anyone know why this happened? Did he contact anyone? Any mod? I would hate to think someone did something that upset or annoyed him so much that he felt he had to erase all trace of himself here.

Of course, there are plenty of valid theories, feel free to add your own:

1. He joined some new cult which forbids the discussion of music
2. he's working for the CIA/NSA/Walmart and has to erase all evidence of his former identity
3. It was a spell Ked cast that went horribly wrong
4. As he long feared, his computer achieved sentience and decided to delete his journal, for reasons best known to itself
5. Batty hacked into his account and deleted his journal "for the lulz" and also because Ked would not respond to his sexual advances
6. He went mad
7. He went home to his own planet
8. He sleeptypes, and this was the disastrous result
9. He came to his senses, realised he is living in the Matrix, that we are all computer constructs and so his work was worthless

Any more? Anyone seriously any idea why he took this seemingly rather drastic step? I thought he was just taking a break and would be back at some point. Why waste all the work he put into that journal?

Maybe he had to commit seppuku and needed to set his affairs in order beforehand, one of those being to erase his journal? Maybe it was an "Unperson" sort of deal?

There was/is someone at my old forum who had a habit of deleting her poems when she was upset about something. She's a pretty sensitive sort. It could be possible Mord is the sensitive type as well.

Yeah I could understand that but a) who or what pissed him off? He seemed to leave on good terms and b) why not just ask for his journal to be deleted, instead of going through nearly a hundred pages of entries and replacing each one with a dot? The time taken even to highlight an entry, hit return and type in a dot, and then save, god knows how many hundred times, surely does not seem a good way to do it.

Either he's got a bad depression or he wanted to turn his journal into some weird piece of modern digital art. Those are my best guesses.

It's possible he thought they wouldn't delete his journal. A lot of forums have a policy that they don't delete posts.

Well, I think with a little bit of kindergartner-lite detective work
checking dates and after-leave comments it may be pretty easy
to ascertain the reason(s).
{you can tell that it only took about 90 minutes to erase them}.

Always worth asking.
Would you spend an hour and a half doing that? I wouldn't.
Also: spill if you know, or have guessed. Was it to do with the comments left by Batty and myself?

Ki left because he didn’t want his music to be associated with his Music Banter account. He took all his stuff off of Bandcamp. I’m sure he changed the name and rereleased it.

Ki was whining more and more for years just because he was a dumbass who invited all the trolling he got but couldn't take it and eventually got butthurt enough to leave while he was on an upswing from a new job. He was my retard troll homeboy in a lot of ways but Jesus Christ could he not take a chill pill.

i have Ki on snapchat and haven't seen anything from him in months now. hoping he just did a social media purge and that's it.

If he deleted all that music and then dropped off the radar then it's probably just a purge for whatever reason.

He probably took the plunge and changed sex, starting a whole new life. When did Kesha start up, by the way? ;)

The dress thing was just LiL's idea. I laugh every time I think of Ki scowling in women's clothing.

He's still being the same ole dork on facebook.

All his posts are just periods. I guess he wanted to make a "point" before he left.

I didn't realize Mord had had a meltdown. Maybe he was applying for a job and didn't want anyone to see his post history here.

well he already had a job as a teacher. Plus he lives in Japan, where probably a large percentage of people don't read/speak English, and where a site like this would not be of much interest.

I don't get why people edit posts they made ages ago.

Editing is one thing, deleting everything is very much another.
I once went back to erase completely a review I had written of a Lostprophets album after I found out about the scumbag singer, but other than that, mostly no.

I understand that one though.

People change jobs, people move, and background checks don't necessarily have anything to do with what's most popular in a given country.

I think Trollheart is interpreting it as a "meltdown." Whether or not that's the case, idk. Mord belongs to RYM and I think he has his own blog. It's possible he deleted his journal to re-post it on his own blog, or RYM.

Outside of taking a few recommendations (a few he liked, and a few he didn't) I didn't see him too open for conversation.

I just feel that if someone goes to the trouble of deleting (hand-deleting) all their posts then something must have happened. Plus, he did leave but said he would be back. It just seems like overkill to me; why delete all the hard work you had put in? Even if he reassembles his journal on RYM chances are not everything will work there - many forums/blogs use alternate ways of displaying YouTube videos, for instance. I just didn't expect what I see to be so extreme an action. Nobody to my knowledge has ever done this before, in all the time the site has been going. And if it were me, and I wanted my details erased, I'd just ask a mod to delete my journals. Why go to all that extra trouble?

And now I hear he also deleted all his posts in every thread he made or joined in on; how long must that have taken? It doesn't seem like you'd do that just because you moved your "base of operations" to another site. To me, this is the equivalent of a nasty ending to a relationship. You know, where you burn all her photographs, tear up all her letters ... we've all done that, right? Right....?
