Question on changing avatars

If my avatar has been changed by a mod, and I find it to be incorrect, as in this case it's too dark, can I change it myself or because it's over the max official size (80 x 80) do I have to submit another request? I don't want to be a pain, but I do notice some people changing almost every day and I wonder are you all submitting requests or is there something with my avatar I can do on my own that avoids having to bug the mods all the time?

Also, is there any way to test how your new avvy will look before submitting it?

Thanks guys
TH

Goofle 07-27-2015 05:45 AM

You would have to request another of you want it to be larger. The only way to test it would be to see what it looks like when sized down after adding it yourself.

RoxyRollah 07-27-2015 05:56 AM

Or get a Clancy.

Trollheart 07-27-2015 09:53 AM

There are some things I won't do for the sake of an avatar...

The best way to test it is to preview your post when you have your potential avatar in IMG tags. The picture will show up on the post with the way it will look. However, I assume you're referring to the fact that the background of your avatar is the shade of the forum color and not the shade of the avatar area background. Just print screen with the color of the avatar area background, put it into photoshop, put your image over it, then proceed to test the avatar with the IMG tags. It should show up as it would show up as your avatar.

Goofle 07-27-2015 10:57 AM

Or keep Angelina Jolie avatars forever.

No I was actually referring to the picture itself, which somehow seemed to come out much darker and less distinct than I had anticipated. Actually, as you say, I've sussed that now. When I post the image in the requests thread, I just preview it and it shows me what it will look like when added. I've gone through about seven choices today and now I think I have the one that hopefully looks the best.

Also, I don't have Photoshop.
But thanks anyway.

Also, thanks to whoever authorised that change --- Goofle or Plankton I'm assuming --- so quickly. Sorry for the hassle and hope this one is a keeper.
Thanks
TH

You don't need photoshop specifically, there are a lot of free sites that have photo editors like this one: Photo Editor | Fotor - Free Online Photo Editing & Creatives.

I use Paint.NET too. Sorry, wasn't fully concentrating on the post, still a little in shock tbh...

Plankton 07-27-2015 01:28 PM

FYI, you can DL Photoshop CS2 for free (the entire CS2 suite too):

http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/

Just create an account. So easy, a The Batlord could do it.

Why do 75% of the usernames in the active user list have a strike through their name?

Mr. Charlie 07-27-2015 03:42 PM

Are they banned?

Trollheart 07-27-2015 03:51 PM

From the nonsensical names, I'd say they were spammers who just came here to drop their links and then ****ed off. If their accounts weren't disabled I guess they'd remain on the list, though the line through the name does normally mean a ban.

Mr. Charlie 07-27-2015 03:54 PM

Thanks, Trollheart. There's loads of them!

We were waiting for a sprink smidge, and those were test runs.

You've become part of the management.

I have been assimilated.

Minus the imilated.

My avatar has all of a sudden turned into an annoying little "X" and I have no idea why.

Those "X"s usually turn up when a website cuts off access to an image, right? But my avatar is stored in my computer, in a file whose code looks more or less like this:-

C:\Users\Me\avatar.bmp

So in the User PC, I went to Edit Avatar > Use Custom Avatar > Upload image from computer and put that code into the Examine box. But when I click on "Save Changes", nothing happens. :(

I´ve checked that the image I have is just 80x80 pixels, so if anyone has the patience to suggest what I should try next, I would be very grateful indeed.

Frownland 10-25-2015 04:57 PM

It looks good to me.

Lisnaholic 10-25-2015 05:00 PM

Thanks Frownland! So my computer is blocking my own file image. That´s really weird !

MicShazam 11-21-2015 02:38 AM

I don't even understand how you people get a big avatar in the first place. I know it must be explained somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. If I need to request it from a mod, then how do I do so?

[NEVER MIND - found the avatar request thread]

RoxyRollah 11-22-2015 06:12 AM

Whatchoo mean you people?

Black Francis 05-16-2018 05:37 PM

I have an issue maybe somebody here could help me with.

I cropped a big pic and when the cropped out pic appears is outta focus a bit. How do i fix that?

Frownland 05-16-2018 05:39 PM

What are you using to crop? And are you sure that you're cropping and not just resizing?

I just found a better version of the pic i want to crop. I used a website called cut my pic cause the resize site suggested by mb doesnt crop for me. Doing it all thru my phone.

Could you link me the site you use to crop?

Frownland 05-16-2018 05:52 PM

Ja the issue is most likely with the image itself.

I usually crop using ms paint. You can also use imgur or find a good site with a basic crop function in a Google search. Cropping shouldn't be affecting the quality of your images.

The Batlord 05-16-2018 05:52 PM

I just use Imgur. It used to **** up photos when you cropped them but now it's fine and takes two seconds.

Black Francis 05-16-2018 05:57 PM

Alright, thnx guys.

Black Francis 05-16-2018 06:43 PM

****, it's not working! Imgur keeps redirecting me to stale page to get the app and the picresize site gets frozen every time i want to save the pic to fb or embed it.

Question, if i just post this pic in the avatar request thread, will that work?

The Batlord 05-16-2018 06:59 PM

I guess.
