I feel that you, especially with your perspective as a super moderator, give very good reasons for changing rule enforcement at MB so that the limits are clearer and enforcement more consistent. I agree with you.

And thank you, Tore, and also a thank you to the moderators, for agreeing to create a poll so that we can vote on what we feel is best for MB after reading about and discussing the issue:

I agree with you, Tore, when you write: "The current and long-lasting state of affairs is driving people who want better behaved forums away from the site and so if the current environment is allowed to continue, support for this [proposed change in rule enforcement] would only dwindle in the future."

I agree!

I also would like to thank Tore as well for all his efforts in trying to make the forum better for everyone and potential members.

Based off the way things are now, I don't see the point in having moderators if the members here want the site to continue on like this.

Why have moderators when people don't want rules or infractions to be enforced?

That's the whole point of having moderators for forums.

They make sure rules are being followed.

I personally think a site like this (if the decision is made for no rules or infractions) that there should be no more moderators because the current moderators don't apply equal and fair moderation for all its members.

Thats not how forums work

However,

if the current members want to continue that type of culture here than I would suggest.... doing it all the way and not half ass.

Don't say you don't want rules or infractions but then say you still want moderators.

That just doesn't make any sense to me either way I won't be here for it but just saying.

That discounts all the work mods do behind the scenes. If they weren't making sure rules were being followed this would be a spam wasteland.

But the members here don't want infractions or rules. Lol

So why do they want moderators? Lol

It doesn't make much sense.

Well for one the moderators have a lot to do behind the scenes. Think of the pure amount of utter crap that would be flooding the boards. You claim to want stricter rules or whatever and yet you yourself do not follow the established rules. So what's the point of advocating stricter rules or bashing others for not following the ones set out? And no, I'm not perfect, probably broken a few.

It may be a "wasteland" for you. And I am in no doubt that there's plenty of crap to scroll through in certain areas of the site. But I know from personal experience that it's completely avoidable and something that requires your own choice to open specific threads and keep going back to them.

For one, I think there should be moderators and the site should be changed overall. I just did not get the mentality of the some of the members who are in favor of no infractions because imo the whole point of having moderators are to enforce the rules not just (behind the scenes jobs)

Also, I have said countless of times here that I am not perfect and for that matter no one is and I think everyone that is voting and has contributed on this topic has broken a rule or has done something questionable.

However,

I have never personally attacked anyone here or have personally insulted anyone here but I have experienced that here many of times and nothing was done. Hell, I have even been personally attacked by moderators but for the members here this appears to be "acceptable" behavior from a moderator?

I have also observed that here multiple times by other members.

I have gotten tired of it and have got in many debates lately but I usually just have ignored it in the past.

That was in reference to the chaotic nature of this site, not necessarily certain threads. There are no rules being enforced so the nature of the forum seems out of control and most of the insightful members that contributed to threads have gone because of that reason.

It depends what the rules are.

I constantly report spam whenever I see it. I've reported posts that I felt should be deleted too. Unless you're seriously taking the piss, e.g. direct abuse (serious personal attacks not just calling someone a knobhead) then I don't think anyone should be banned or have an infraction.

The reason is it breaks our rule about short nonsense posts.
This is one of the things tore posted on his other thread. If this forum enforces rules like this, it will just drive members away.
