Why the **** isn’t this an issue for some people? A guy who has been here for ten years leaves? Of all the ****ing useless topics on this forum THIS is one that should have ten pages of arguing.
I know I’m bringing in a post from another, unrelated topic, but Pet Sounds mentioned in another thread about shutting the down the current event sub-forum. That, to me, is a textbook example of curing the disease by killing the patient. The disease is any member who feels the need to make an argument personal. You can ignore the lounge. You don’t have to participate in discussions about police brutality (to a certain extent). The conversation will be exhausted eventually. What makes these conversations bad is the sheer number of times that, in the middle of an ordinary conversation, the discussion becomes personal. An overwhelming majority of the time, it is done by a member who WAS NOT INVOLVED in the discussion, simply drops a “dude, you’re being a ****ing ****, that’s not what he said” as if it’s a helpful suggestion. Not only is it a fallacy, but it’s antagonistic behavior and is unacceptable. IN THIS VERY THREAD, people are doing exactly what I am referring to. Of course, some of the insults being hurled in this thread are hard to argue against, and that’s another problem. Members who SHOULD BE MODERATED have not been, and in addition to frustrating the legitimately helpful members, they are triggering other members into retaliating with equally unhelpful comments. …and going back to my point that members SHOULD ignore topics that disturb you, there’s a breaking point for members. I'm now going to totally throw yorkedaddy under the bus here as well and call him a textbook example of someone who came to this forum with the intent to be an *******, was called out for being one, admitted to being one, and was banned. He subsequently came back as YD2K and is a different member now. The system works. Tough moderating for tough *******s (no offense YD) DOES get the job done. So yeah, that’s my peace. |

His ten years got tarnished when he decided to act like the people that he always complained about upon "resignation". I never really liked or disliked him, he's always just kinda been there, being an average moderator. Hopefully, he's found something more enjoyable than moderating a bunch of thankless forum members like myself.

Can a mod please change Urban's avatar? It's throwing off my browser's page alignment, and slowing the site down. I really don't want to have to browse the site with images disabled.

Also wondering why no other mods have confirmed or denied Urban's actual intentions here, I really don't believe he would leave without saying something to the mod team and if that's the case stop keeping us in the dark
