Since a thread of mine has been specifically mentioned I'd like to point out that I started it at 10:40 AM and requested that the mods kill it about an hour later at 11:43 AM.

And I've mentioned several times since - I screwed up. I apologize.

(with all of the crap that goes on around here it's a bit weird that a thread started 3 months ago that stayed open such a short period of time gets singled out)

Despite what anybody says this isn't a case of singling out threads. It's about having some kind of standards for all of them.

Is it really necessary to call someone gay 6 times a day in 6 different threads. And I was paraphrasing there BTW.

I have been a member here for only a short while. I don't login and contribute often but I do read most of the music threads - some of them are really good. However, I don't join in on the other threads much because of the utter sh*te that's posted. I scratch my head and wonder just how old the posters are. This forum is very cliquey too. It's about time somebody had the guts to do something about the tripe that's posted here.

I think that's pretty unfair. You don't exactly make huge meaningful contributions yourself so I don't see how/why you would be able to make a statement like that. I also can't think of who you mean; nobody here has given me that sort of impression, apart from the odd ill-advised post and we all make them from time to time.

Like I said in the thread, inappropriate if he wasn't asked about it, consulted about it or, if you like, warned about it beforehand. I feel it could have come across as (even unintentionally) quite condescending and embarrassing. Just what I think though. Nice sentiment, possibly approached the wrong way?

It's open but now it's moderated, so people can't just say what they like. Every post has to be approved, like a journal entry. What I said should have been done a while ago.
