I try to avoid insulting people also, and I don't really think i've done so. If you feel that way then I apologize to ya. I'm not inclined to insult people, I like to keep a semblance of respect for everyone.

I'm sorry if I overreacted a bit. And I appreciate the apology by the way, that was a really nice thing to say. :thumb:

Fair enough. I mean, like we both agreed, I've never even met Yac, so you'd know him/her far better than I do. If you think that you're taking the best course of action, that's something only you can really decide. I just didn't like the way that the announcement was worded, because I felt kind of deceived.

Also, Soulflower, I think you're a pretty interesting person with a great taste in music, but I also think that you might have a bit of a vendetta with Urban. I know he can come off as if he's a bit cruel and doesn't really give a damn, but in my experience that's just not the way he is. I've definitely made my share of inflammatory posts, and with the way that I sometimes aggravate discussions into arguments, Urban could easily have just deleted my posts or banned me and been done with it. But instead, he always lets people speak their mind without censoring them, and only intervenes as a last resort. Think about it; instead of just blocking your posts, he's actually letting you criticize him as you see fit, and he's responding to you as well. Most mods on most other websites wouldn't bother to do that, so maybe Urban has more respect for you than you realize.

Ah. Good plan, Batman. :thumb:

And yet, Soulflower continues to ignore my posts. Why am I not surprised?

FWIW my opinion is this: the SYG thread was made to talk about what you thought about other members, good or bad. It was NOT made for a (purely hypothetical, I can't recall all the posts) ten-post discussion on a movie, or six posts about how someone feels they should play such a game, or even the weather. The current SYG took the phrase off-topic to new heights (or lows, if you prefer). Add in the namecalling and insults and you had a thread that had veered sharply off-course from its original intent. Urban attempted to address this by closing the thread with a warning that it would not be reinstated until someone had something of value to post. Someone did (Ki I think) and it reopened. Almost immediately, the crap began again so he closed it (supposedly) permanently. Now it's in moderation, which is where it should really have stayed.

I'm unclear (why am I asking as she won't reply but anyway) as to what Soulflower thinks Urban could have done more? Is hand-holding an issue here? Can people not think for themselves? You know what: I've asked this before and got ignored so I won't bother. But I think if people are posting inappropriate things then the blame lies with them, not the mods. You have to take responsibility for what you post, we all do, and while I may sometimes go a little over the top I always realise it, apologise and correct that behaviour.

I don't whine "Urban should have stopped me doing that!" which appears to be the message Soulflower is trying to preach. Why, I do not know, as it has no basis in reality. It seems to be like those people who moan "I'm not to blame: society is." Yeah.

You cited my post, but ignored my question. I'll repeat: Urban currently does a lot to improve the the site, what do you, Soulflower, do to improve it?

GuitarBizarre 02-25-2015 03:39 PM

I'm hoping the answer to that question is "Get banned, very quickly, for repeatedly and pointedly harassing a specific member under the pretense of criticism, while clearly and equally pointedly ignoring literally everyone else who has said a single ****ing word."

Please tell me it is. Please please please please please please.

Carpe Mortem 02-25-2015 04:17 PM

I just wanna say that mods can do whatever they want, thanks for all the fish, and you people are seriously worse than a nursing home bridge game at medication hour.

I guess I could just not read this thread but I'm very disappointed in the fact some of you are emotional/talkative about this.

Honestly, leave Roxy alone.

BTW are you someone important on MusicBanter? Like seriously I don't know. It seems you like to come in here riding on your high horse and lecture people. http://smileydatabase.com/smilies/1063.gif

Is it just me, or has quality music discussion spiked since this thread was posted?

I'm so happy to see this all finally calm down. It helped in the long run I think.
