Like I said, I try to gauge the forum's environment as a whole. The issue of using that word in any context was never really addressed before, so I had no way to know how it would be received even as just a well-placed one-off. Recent developments however have shown that the odd use of "faggot" in a limited context doesn't seem to cause problems (it was JWB's tactless use of it, and his reputation for stirring **** up that caused all the drama), so I rolled with it.

It's not like I'm now going to start throwing it around with assumed impunity, but I judged that the time and place had made it comedically relevant in a topical way, and being me I wasn't about to let the opportunity go to waste. Still, I judged that even without this new edict the time for its acceptability, or at least comedic value, would have been short-lived, and therefore I was prepared to drop it once the "trend" had run its course. I'm not emotionally tied to making homophobic jokes, so if the "Age of Faggot" is now over it's no skin off my nose. I'm a tongue-in-cheek troll whose desire is to annoy, but not to actually offend (Unless of course you're a wannabe social crusader who I feel is just begging to have your nipples twisted.)

Of course in a perfect world I'd love to be able to use any joke I pleased, no matter how offensive, but even if I think this forum can be a bit oversensitive and touchy-feely for my taste, I still love its general atmosphere far more than many, more un-PC forums populated by legitimately bigoted white male twenty-somethings who bitch about feminism and whatnot. I was briefly a member of a comic book forum a little while ago, but male nerd culture can be repulsive at times, and so I never had any desire to make it my new go-to forum. Here I sometimes butt heads with more "comedically conservative" members, but there all of a sudden I felt like a mini-Sansa. It made me feel dirty.

I was not a member here during all the drama with vilified members of the past but from what I've heard about them no one currently deserves to join their list.

Soulflower, I don't think our mod team is perfect, and I don't think Urban is a perfect moderator.

But you are attacking entirely the wrong set of people if you want to contribute in any way to making this forum any better than it is. The people here are the major problem - if only because the large group of members we have here, most of whom are, frankly, not exactly Steven Hawking, can post a lot more awful, borderline, ignorant rubbish than the moderators can mismanage in the same time period.

I told you what I felt my shortcomings were and where I could improve. All Janzsoon did was give you a list of jobs I do, If that was what you wanted why didn't you just say?

I added that if you felt I had any faults to add you were welcome to do so.

I don't spend hours of my day making long posts with the intent avoiding your questions, why would anyone do that when they can just ignore them? Any attempts I've made to address you are to answer your questions and clarify things. It's not my fault if you don't like what you are hearing.

I explained in another post why I worded the opening post the way I did, I don't feel deceiving anyone for reasons I already mentioned. You don't like that. OK fine I accept that can we move on now I can't go back in history and change it.

Official note SoulFlower didn't like the first post. OK got that now.

I also offered you the chance to PM me if you ever had a problem, I also told you I've never ignored one member yet.

That's about as best as you're going to get, I'm doing my best to accommodate you and it feels like you're not even giving me a inch and you've already made your mind up and you're not changing it. I genuinely thought my last post to you was an open and honest attempt to thaw things between us and was disappointed that it just seemed to make you feel even stronger against me. I guess I'll just have to resign myself to knowing that nothing I do is going to be good enough for you.

Well I know this is the best I am going to get from you especially when you pretty much showed me on more than one occasion that you don't care about this forum. You foolishly blame others instead of maturely pointing out errors on your part and things you can do as a moderator to improve it.

What your responses in this thread show is that you can not handle or accept constructive criticism. All you want is for people to kiss you behind and I am sorry I am not going to do that.

It's good to receive constructive criticism and its okay to admit when you are wrong and I see this is a sensitive area for you because you get defensive and start blaming others instead of looking at yourself.

I have not disrespected you at all in this thread and have respectfully expressed criticism and my opinions toward you. So please don't imply that I am insisting "everything you do is wrong" once again I do not have a problem with you and have expressed on more than one occasion that I like you despite your arrogance. (there are only a very few here that I genuinely like and you are one of them).

I honestly don't think you insisting vaguely "you can be short sometimes" was a mature and sincere self-critique. If you gave an honest and sincere response, I would have accepted it but honestly... I don't because I think you are better than how you are responding to my criticism in this thread.

If you were to ask me the same question, you wouldn't get a politically correct response like the one you gave but once again I realize the place that I come from with my opinions and insights is very different from the agendas on this site.

In like seven years of posting here, the current mod team are one of the best I've seen. I like them all, and I think they all work hard too. Aside from those that don't post anymore, although who knows what they do behind the scenes.
The mods aren't the problem, and if you're saying they are you're probably part of the problem.

I am new here (just found it within the past few months) but not to the Internet. I understand it's not fun at times to moderate. This site is the most cliquish and trollish that I have seen in awhile, although that could be because it's a fairly small site in comparison. I need more time to take in what's acceptable here.

With that said, I really wouldn't want to see it go down a PG-13, PC road like every other major forum I visit where a lot of humor is considered off-topic. Again, I understand there are fine lines.
