At first I told Ant that this wouldn’t make my top ten but would make my top twenty-five if I were making one. Now I wonder if this shouldn’t be number one. A brilliant pop record is probably the most elusive pot of gold at the end of the longest rainbow over the roughest seas. Simultaneously avant garde dance floor popping booze selling and mdma infused. It’s got to be the future as it should be and really will be and is now as we soldier on unaware of Derrida‘s metaphysics of presence. And yes that’s really what’s on the table here.

This whole thing reinforces my fear of heights. I will still go to high places but they have always terrified me.

That it’s a musical avatar for both the present and the future because it captures the essence of the idea of the eternal present. I could’ve just said that I’m certain this record will continue to be profoundly influential for a very long time and it gives me the feeling I’m being removed from time and space as I typically think I understand it but after writing so many reviews on Freak Fighter I was looking for new ways to express things. I’m pretty sure I was reading Heidegger at the time and thought oh this fits but because of his association with Nazism and who Sophie is I decided it would be more tasteful to reference Derrida instead.

Unfortunately I don't think we can necessarily assume he's alright. People are dying, panicking, many areas have no power or running water of any kind. There are viral photos going around of the interior of apartment complexes where literal icicles are forming on ceiling fans. Most people that live down there probably are not at all equipped to handle this

Basically the entire state as a whole is ignorant and stubborn and refuses to prepare for these kinds of things. I believe they are the only state in the US that operates on their own power grid because they are so against federal regulations on the matter. Clearly it is not working out right now because a few days of below freezing temperatures have seemingly caused chaos for the entire state. There are articles out there that will do a better job overall of explaining the situation than I can
