I wasn't around then. And unlike the Cuban Missle Crisis, I never saw a document about it (the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party revolts of the 1950s), so I didn't know that happened till now. Closer to modern times, in 1981 the Canadian Prog band Saga caused riots in Puerto Rico while on tour there.
