In fact, the issue was that our person who lives in a land where they don't do much smiling at all got involved in a discussion with jwb, kept needling him and then decided to PERMA-ban him. Not so bad maybe if he had only temp banned him, but no, permaban.

Frown was seen, rightly, to have abused his power as a mod for his own personal gain, and this was what set a lot of us after him, despite what Batty would have you believe.

If jwb was being transphobic why is WWWP defending him? From my many years in this forum, they have always been very ethical and would hold people accountable for dissing the rainbow community (which I am also apart of). Make it make sense.

Jess, you'll get nothing unbiased out of Batty (nor, probably me) as we both have our minds made up. I'd suggest talking to other mods - WWWP seems to know all about it - and see what their position is on it. TBF, neither Batty nor I are mods (perish the thought!) and neither of us have access to the mod cave, so we don't really know how it went down. Frown may have told Bat but that would of course be weighting the story on his side, so to get the full story I imagine speaking to the others. It just seemed like a dick move to me, but then, what do I know?

Okay thank you, I agree that in the case that they were butting heads with jwb they should have let other mods take over.

Batlord himself created a thread years ago about Frownland being a garbage mod that abused his power.

You’re right that the forum is slow and we don’t need as many mods - so demodding him should be no issue.

After seeing the way he responded to you below and edit your posts I am inclined to agree.

He was sealioning a discussion about trans people in prisons to derail it in a deniable way and these members don't see it. He's done this before in a discussion on a potential trans genocide by wildly misconstruing any point I made as either vague or crazy making for a neverending circular argument that goes nowhere.

Frownland has been a genuine friend to me on MB, but I can see that making the individual choice to perma-ban a member who you are arguing with at a co-equal, member-to-member, level is a super-bad move. Is that what happened?

To preserve the reputation of fair modding, I think mods should follow the example (set for years and only recently abandoned) of the US Supreme Court: that there should never be even the appearance of a lack of impartiality.

In this particular case, I'd suggest the mods should decide in the mod cave about the ban: take a vote there and announce the majority decision. Of course, that would mean some time and trouble for the mods, which perhaps they don't feel inclined to go to, what with all the thankless spam-blocking they are already doing for us.

To clarify: He was repermabanned for years of bad behaviour after being unpermabanned on the condition that he doesn't fall back into his old trollish ways, a decision approved by the majority of the other mods. I agree the optics and my behaviour aren't perfect but I would prefer it be discussed outside of the ban because it will have no bearing on that decision.
