It doesn't need to be shaken off. My point is that identity and your tendencies and the things that you consider your "identity" are all tied to your biology in some way. It's both interesting and scary because you wonder how many of your choices in life tend to get tied to those things as well. I thought a few years back that with the advent of CRISPR and more gene therapies you'd see society a little further along by now in regards to being able to grapple with this stuff (and be more accepting in general) but progress is slow.

Also i feel like transness has become vague to the point of almost incoherent when you talk about trans people who experience 0 gender dysphoria and 0 treatment and just dye their hair pink and can themselves non binary or whatever... What i am talking about applies more to the vast majority of trans people who are specifically either mtf or ftm, usually the former.

Race isn't a biological factor where people consider spending tens of thousands of dollars in surgeries and hormonal therapies to achieve a specific goal. Having better gene therapies would make their lives a hellluva lot easier no matter what they want to do. And as jwb pointed out, what if a man could become a woman in like 1 week at minimal cost? Or vice versa. That would be an amazing thing.

Also what Frown points out about CRISPR etc. relates to what I'm nitpicking about: it's considering the issues and trauma that many trans people face as all being an inherent biological condition/state of confusion that needs treatment, and focus on these kind of biological treaments to easily erase all of those issues. It neglects how much of those issues are not a biological condition but due to society being ****ed up
