I can get by in conversational ASL and am well practiced in toddler Spanish but my grammar is not great. I did a couple of independent study semesters of pointed (biblical) Hebrew and Greek with my religion prof. but aside from the alphabets I've forgotten everything. I hope to be fluent in Spanish but i stopped practicing as much and have already regressed a lot.

Yeah it's hardly a passion unless I could interpret strictly hip hop shows. I learned it from having a deaf roommate.

That’s pretty bad ass. How often do you know the meaning but not the “reading”? Like you know what the kanji means but not sure how to say it?

You ever watch Japanese and Chinese people communicate on paper only? Isn’t it true that Chinese only has one sound per character?

I used to work on the streets of Hudson County, NJ so speaking a bit of Spanish was a must or else I'd likely be flayed alive. When I was travelling, French was the only language that I had to actually try to speak because nobody knew English. I asked a dude if I needed to sign for a credit card purchase in Normandy and he looked at me like I was speaking Grognakstfariansith or some other made up combined alien language.
