I haven't heard of John James till now, not bad. Being a fingerpicker I checked to see if he's part of the Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop and Vestapol Videos catalogue, and he is. They have all kind of artist from Country Blues legends to more contemporary fingerstyle artists.

^ That´s clever of you! Yes, in the UK, his albums were on the Kicking Mule record label, along with Stefan Grossman. Didn´t realise you were a guitar player yourself, Nea. Maybe I should dip into the Artists forum once in a while.
