As I understand it, JD was briefly banned for recently describing butthead as " a piece of **** ", which raises the semantic debating point, Is it technically an insult to call someone a piece of asterisk ?

Paul and JD aside, I`ve felt something very similar to you recently, neapolitan, and I would be sad if you were to leave us. I like the way you contribute, sparingly but to the point, and you have rightly won the respect of many people here over the years. It may not be announced at every post, but I`m sure the affection is there...

Not so long ago, the thread about "Are we welcoming to newcomers?" clocked up 329 posts and there are no shortage of "MB is doomed" type threads, but do they help retain existing members? At best, these threads are followed by a flurry of well-intentioned efforts before everything subsides back to some natural base level, the way water does. Not much point trying to push water uphill, but I wonder if minor changes in individual conduct here would do anything to reduce the continual drain-off of some of our most worthy members, by which I mean people who came here keen to discuss music, hung around for a number of years, but ultimately found MB unsatisfying. The list of members like that is depressingly long and doesn`t need neapolitan added to it.....
Well thank you for saying that. I guess I didn't respond at first because I was a little embarrassed by how the whole thing transpired. I didn't think that "butthead aka 216" would be ban so swiftly and adeptly by Vanilla, so kudos to her for how she handle it. TBH when I made this thread I thought that it would take time for the mods to discuss the situation and I was estimating it would be a few days before anything happen, and that is only because I really don't know how things operate with the mods etc.

I wasn't looking or asking any specific kind of disciplinarian action taken against him when I made this thread. And I didn't revel in it when he was finally banned. All I wanted to do was to show a little thoughtful concern for Paul and Steph.

Looks like I missed a lot of ****! I didn't know that any of this happened, other than 216 getting banned and even then I didn't know specifically what for.

Anyway, Steph, I didn't know you asked for a ban but I'm glad you're still here.

I miss stuff like this for a reason. It's kinda sad in a way but for a long time now, probably around about the time I quit as a mod, I have made a habit of deciding whether or not I'm even going to read an OP based on the title of the thread. There are countless threads, usually in the Current Events forum, that I just refuse to read, because I know what to expect from it and therefore know it is not exactly going to add to my already rapidly dwindling interest in this forum. There are plenty of great people who post here, but more than enough morons who make it incredibly difficult to motivate myself to get involved in what happens here any more.

If Steph and Paul both quit and stayed away it would just make it even harder.

I took a spoon in the road once. Led me to a real weird place from where I've never properly escaped.

Ruder!

This place rocks. My posts make people gag. Members tell me they want me gone. Mods threaten to ban me. Haha. I love it.
