I mean, this forum is already top-heavy enough with like 70% of the posts being made by the top 5% of the members or something (I have absolutely no desire to actually calculate this), and I don't think any new members should ever be shown the door, especially when we're talking about a member that was rather friendly and just wanted to make friends.

Where in the name of Satan's cat did you get that from???
I did NOT justify it, not at all. I said that as Roxy said, people who have been here a wet day should not post in a thread which is, pretty much, aimed at longer-term members, to gauge their reactions to, and impressions of, other members. There's nothing stopping them posting in SYG and I don't care if they do. I was responding to YOUR claim that I didn't know about Roxy's post and that that post reflected her, and my, view of ALL threads, which it does not. You are intentionally twisting my words and making them fit your theory.

To clarify (yawn but I must): I said "newbies can post in threads if they want". You said "newbies get chased out of threads" I said "no they don't show me one instance" and you showed Roxy's post. I then said "that only refer to this thread" and you somehow took that as validation of and agreement with Roxy's comment, neither of which I hold as it happens.

All I was doing was replying to your contention that people get chased out of thread (which of course they should not be) and now you've made it somehow that I think they should. Huh???

Can you do me a favour and read my posts without your own agenda in mind and DON'T shape them to fit your own theories? I really hate that.

Nigga plz, my balls are huge!!

i can take a picture of them if you like and send it to you. ^_^

But i gotta say i agree with you regarding your argument with Trollheart.

I think noobs or old members should be welcomed to post here even if is to give their 1st impression of ppl here.

it lets ppl know your 1st impression of them and whether is bad or good.

And you can re-read what I wrote too, please, don't just accept that YD is right. He isn't. I never said that, never proposed that. I ONLY said SYG is not the place for newbies to post as they have not enough knowledge of other members to be making judgements at that point.

Wasn't I the one who said why do noobs think they have to remain in intros? Why can't they come out and contribute to threads? Does that sound like someone who thinks noobs should not be posting? It's very annoying, having your words not only twisted but completely skewed, and then for some hanger-on to this (incorrectly formed) opinion say "yeah me too!"

Just read the darn posts, willya?

Lol my "agenda," apparently I'm some sort of political activist now.

I claimed that this forum is pretty unfriendly to new members, and that it's so dominated by cliques and in-jokes that new members have a hard time acclimating. I've seen and heard it with my own eyes, even when I tried to get some friends like Schuyler here, he just felt voiceless.

Every discussion is owned by the same ten or so members here and that's irrefutable. There's nothing inherently wrong with that because tightly-knit communities are fun, but there's just nothing here to promote growth. You wanted an example of a member being chased off and I delivered, and the particular member in question was even very nice and I was quite fond of that person, but alas, they got flamed and they're gone.

So basically you need to calm down and look at things with a hint of objectivity. It's not even a big deal but you made it one, so here's my stance.

I mean, just go look in the journals section that you care about so much. Only about five people have journals that get consistent replies, while the really cool new members with strong journals like Tristesse are just slowly fading off the first page.

Nobody was driven from the forum.
The guy made about 300 posts in the lounge in something like 2 days and threw a tantrum and left when people said they found it annoying.
You're confusing cliques with someone being highly annoying.

Who knew something I said 20 pgs ago would cause this much debate.
My goodness.I still stick by what I said, wait till you know people here before you start talking trash, or spewing love. Because you never know, first impressions can be way off.

Yea, and while i do see your point i disagree with that.

I think if a noob has been here enough to get a sense of how some members here are he should be able to express his impression of them.

especially if it is a positive one, it can be an ice breaker between the both of you, i guess your point is Noobs can't really make an informed decision at that point but still, this is the internet we may all act like besties but truth is we don't really know what person hides behind the words we read.

And if this thread is about a 100% accuracy, only BFF would be allowed to post here.

By you saying "it's ok if members post in certain areas but not others" you're further building a gap between noobs and old members.

No, I'm using cliques as in "if you've been here a week you mean very little to most of this forum and if you get too optimistic and friendly we'll flame you into the ground so you leave"

I mean, I'm not stretching any truths here whatsoever, that is a literal retelling of what happened. As far as I can tell there were no other factors to that situation.
