Urban Dictionary: noob

This was never meant to be some endearing term for people that are new somewhere. Maybe you guys don't see it that way here but in other communities it's definitely an insult and that's how I've always felt about it. When the word was first gaining popularity it was exclusively an insult in every context I had ever seen, but apparently here you're all just using it to refer to new people without any negative connotation for some reason.

Honestly this goes back to people being overly sensitive. I have never called anybody a noob, but I can't see anyone being offended by it in the least. I appreciate your plight for new posters and agree with a bit of what you said, but this is taking it to a new level.

Noobody else I have ever encountered has considered it to be insulting.

This has gotta be a joke.

First of all you're both being pretty ignorant and I'm not sure why.

You know how some things that are normal in the United States would be perceived as insulting in China or some other foreign country? Well, the word noob clearly isn't insulting here and everywhere else you two have been, but on the sites where my internet origins come from, like Gamefaqs and RPG Maker forums, the word noob was insulting and basically meant you were a complete idiot.

You guys are being kind of assholes for some reason which is unlike both of you. I get it, you guys don't have a problem with the word noob. Congratulations.

Well Urban Dictionary also defines Music Banter like this so it must be true:

Quote:

Easily the best music forum message board on the interwebz and home to one of the most awesome, brutal and merciless moderators of all time, right-track.

Great place to waste your life.
"Your taste in music is appalling, welcome to music banter!"

"Noobody" - That was a genuine typo :D

So that's now 'Trolling', 'Troll' and 'Noob' we're not allowed to say now.
Any others while we're all here?
