Yes. I've even been a part of gaming communities and I never used the word or appreciated when others used it there either, and that's what the word was actually made for.

Why are we focusing on this? I don't find it offensive or anything but it's a pretty insulting word and it's silly and I don't ever use it. This is not like some shocking thing about me or about any person that might have the same view.

Urban Dictionary: noob This was never meant to be some endearing term for people that are new somewhere. Maybe you guys don't see it that way here but in other communities it's definitely an insult and that's how I've always felt about it. When the word was first gaining popularity it was exclusively an insult in every context I had ever seen, but apparently here you're all just using it to refer to new people without any negative connotation for some reason.
